what are the best to use?

i got a vintage jen crybaby that needs a new pot, and over exitedly bought a dunlop hot potz 1 (and payed faar too much)

so is the hot potz any good (much difference between the 1 and 2?) and what would be a good alternative to it? i know the fulltones and icar are supposed to be good, so are there any good uk sources for these?

ok here's my understanding, someone help me if I need it.
Pots work the same, but the taper may differ...I don't think you'll hear much difference between a Hot Pots and a CBWah pot, as far as changed sweep ranges...probably some slight amount though, should work very similar once the gear position is adjusted.
As long as the taper and value is the same they should work just about like 'the old one'....I'm none too sure about the taper...
Measure the old pot...for value first, then for taper...
Sight the shaft to as close to 'center position as you can, then measure lugs 1 and 2, comparing the value found to measurement of resistance between lugs 2 and 3...if it's linear taper they'll be about the same or 50% / 50%, if log you'll get 'imbalanced' readings like 60% / 40% between each side of the wiper to outside lugs.
A 100kL pot set in center should read about 50k from the wiper to each side.
More expensive Wah Pots advertise more 'turns' and should last longer.
Alternative taper wah pots do exist I think, so watch out for that if you want a different sweep for some reason.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The fulltone ones are great but so are the Northstar ones. I believe the same price at Smallbear.

I have a 220K "Pro Pot" in one of my wahs. It is supposed to be close to an original ICAR pot from what I understand. Anyhow, it matches the original ERT pot I had in there that measured 200K and it seems to be doing just fine. I can't really hear a difference in the sweep, either. It also cost quite a bit less than the Fulltone or Hot Potz! Time will tell how well it holds up.

I used the northstar pot for my "rip out all the parts from my crybaby and actually get some good sounds out of it"-project. And it feels to me like the sweep is more even and musical then with the stock hot-potz.

i put a fulltone wah pot in my crybaby classic.(the new one dunlop makes with fasel)
it sounds great. the best wah sounds i got ever. it stays vocal like the old wahs but it doesn't get too thin when used with high gain.(guns n roses etc...)
