Condsidering how popular gambling is, and how popular DIY FX is, I'm suprised nobody has come up with a components sweepstake, where the one lucky ticket holder gets a whole bunch of components...

Oh, they did!

Ive used them a few times... the price is right and the shipping is better than Small Bear.

i havnt been around much in the past year.what the prob with them?
i just orderd some pots from them today! (for the first time)
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Doug, most people don't have a problem. But, sometimes (as you can see by searching the archives here, or by going to google groups & searching there) they do sometimes screw up.
I havn't used them myself. I'm happy with SmallBear, AllElectronics, Electronic Goldmine (and in Australia, Altronics and Rockby).

Well even looking past the screwups. Their customer support is even more screwed up!

I ordered a bunch of parts, $30 in total I believe, and they did not include the linear IC pack. So I emailed them stating I didn't receive that part of the order. I got an email back saying they don't have it in stock right now, and I had the choice between a refund for that part or waiting for it to come back in stock. Sent an email back saying I was not in a hurry, and received nothing from them ever again. I sent about 5 emails a month after that and got 0 response....

I ordered the IC pack..............

had 2 chime in...
i have found, that when ordering from a "flakey" company,
it's better to phone in the order & talk to a human,
rather that place an order over the web.
A **LOT** of time,s the "web" people don't know what the "phone" people do..
Firstly, Get the name of the human(s) U are talking 2.
(hopefully they won't quit in 2 weeks).
Make *sure* U ask if the parts are in stock & will ship immediately.
Now U have all your bases covered.
Well, almost.......
I always use my Visa, whether i use PayPal or just straight VISA.
Most credit card companies offer "buyer protection".
Just **B  SURE** to keep copies of all correspondance/emails/phone logs.
Phone long would B date/time/person...etc...write it so U can read your writing :)
In fact, i'm using PayPal/Visa for an Ebay mis-auction as i type.
PayPay takes *at least* 30days..(so far, almost 30),
Visa * other CC companies require U to write a letter & provide some docs.
One way or the other, i'm getting my $$ back!!

I found these guys to ship really fast. I've got some boxes, switches and couple of wah pots from them. They have been really nice people to deal with.

I think is they have it in stock you get it soon. If they don't you don't get anything. Just a headache!

I have had pretty good luck with futurlec in the past, but my last two orders are a mess.

I haven't received one of them, and the other has several wrong parts in it.  The 3PDT switches are SPDT, and my DPDT relay is a SPDT.  The trim pots they sent me don't match the picture on the website, so I asked for my money back on those, too.  Cheap and flimsy metal things...I got nice Piher trim pots in an order about a year ago.

It usually takes a week to get my order, but the missing order is going on a month, now.

They haven't answered my e-mails, or credited my card.

If this dosen't get resolved to my liking, I won't be ordering from them again.  If they make good on my orders, I'll be back.  Especially for the resistors.

What kind of pots and other small parts are you all usually after.  I'm starting to stock parts.

Cheers

Mouser and Small Bear get all of my business.  :)

Mouser has gone out of their way 3 times for me.  One time they put 2 $100 holds on my debit card and this caused me to go into the negative, but they paid all of the charges to my account!  And the craziest part is that they just took my word for it.  I wasn't lying, but it was still quite impressive.  Another time, they goofed something small up and delayed my shipment for like 2 days (nothing major to me... it happens) but they overnighted my entire order free of charge so I would get everything when I expected it.  Another time I screwed up my credit card number and they still overnighted my package, even though I was the one who screwed it up!  Needless to say, if they have something I need, I get it from them.

I've only made 2 orders from Small Bear so far, and he's just slow at shipping.  But he has helped me out by letting me add things to my order just before they shipped.  I think his shipping is a bit steep, too.  But, other than that, I've been happy.  :)

Bryan:

My post was not in reply to yours.  I hope I did not offend you.  I didn't mean to make it seem that way.  I was just replying in general to the topic at hand, where "we" order parts.  :)

I wish I could tell you what values I use the most, but seeing as I've only built one pedal, I really can't say!
