Quote from: nelsonok, I couldnt resist the 50 cent pots and value bags.

Despite all the bad things i have heard about futurlec i decided to give em a try, will let you know how it turns out.

I ordered earlier a resistor, IC, diode, ICsocket and 3 different cap value packs and they were quite a dissapointment.

resistors - lots of too small values
ceramic caps - lots of too small values
doides - really small (1,5V rated) 'values'
IC - not the common ones we use here..

all in all i ordered yesterday 82 pots

Hope they will be ok..

No offense taken man, I was just figuring that someone would say that they always order from such and such a place.

Cheers

I've had good luck ordering from futurlec the few times I have, but all the horror stories on this forum are scaring me.  The only thing is, they are the best place to get stripboard/Veroboard that I can find.   The only other places I have found it, are very expensive.   Any suggestions?

Ok, I have recieved 3 orders from futurlec so far, a MOUNTAIN of pots and trimpots, some of the trimpots are SHOCKINGLY BAD quality, others are reasonable. I recieved everything in my order except for the 3PDT toggle switches . They have been responsive to emails and they speak the true queens pigeon english in the replies.

Other than missing 3PDT switches its been a good experience, I wouldnt recommend the diode pack, but the IC pack is worth it. I could use most of the IC's and worked out much cheaper than it would to order them singularly.

Anyway, a moderate thumbs up, just one slight mess up that I have to get sorted, not the horror story I expected.

As a follow up to my previous post, Futurlec has not fixed the error in my last order.  I ordered five 3PDT switches and one DPDT relay.  Instead, I got five SPDT switches and a SPDT relay.  They did resend the order, but it was wrong again.  Since then, they have not responded to my e-mail asking for a resolution.  I will not be ordering from them again.  The prices are low, but the aggravation is high and the quality fluctuates too much for my liking.

Just my two cents worth.

They replaced my 3PDT toggles with SPDT switches too....I asked them to resend them with the next order, however they didnt bother. Either they cant count, or they dont have any 3PDT toggles in stock.......

SLOW AS HELL?....yes.    cheaper than dinner? you betca. with my order, i asked to be told what was not in stock, they told me, i sent a list of replacements, and my order shipped. (BTW toms right about NO-PHONE)
i got a few SMD op-amps (kinda fun to play with.....get out the mag. glass), and the knobs were shitty, but still cheap, which is my main issue.......others are great too, and its nice to have "our very own" (s.bear) tuned in supplier,.....but for <blink>$.50pots!</blink> - i'll order a month and a half in advance...no prob

I like Futurlec man! The order took two weeks to get here- but the value packs are actually pretty amazing- good values for the most part- especially electrolytics and the pots are alphas. They didnt screw up anything on my order, I'm happy! HOORAY FOR FUTURLEC!  :icon_biggrin:

Uh you do know that you dug up a six month old thread right ? ;)

So? ???

Unless the thread is very specific and you are going to add something major then it is generally not appropriate to dig old threads. Several threads on this topic have occurred including one recently so there is no point in bring up this old one. If you really need to declare something important then start a new thread although it'll just end up in another opinion-fest like this one.

The thread has lived it's life. Let it sleep in the archives. :)

This thread ain't dead yet!

I got my order today, and i MUST recommend the mylar cap assortment! all of the parts come in labeled bags with a quantity. this is a GRAB BAG, remember!!

Also, check the prices on NE571 and PT2399

also: Let the guy go! apparently, he has an excellent understanding of the search function. dredging the archives should be encouraged, to avoid the ridiculous questions you sometimes get.

Haven't seen you around, nomorepwnage, welcome to the forum!

I have always kept it simple with Futurlec. I just buy pots there.
Problems seem to stem from their policy of holding over orders from delivery while they wait out of stock items.
Others have reported this, but it has never been my experiece.
I have repeatedly bought my US 50c pots from them and always been happy.
The only time an order was slightly messed up, they sent replacements and said to keep the incorrect parts.
Emails were politely and quickly answered.

Futurlec for pots!!

Yeah, this thread ain't dead, just buried for a while!! Today I got the parts that were missing from my last order... they're back in my good graces for the time being it looks like.
Getting ready to order up a mammoth pots and toggle switch order. Can't beat those friggin' prices when money is a bit tight. This hobby has gotten a bit out of control for me..... I'm disgusted with myself for turning into such a geek over this stuff, sheeeesh!!!!

I have had mostly good luck with them too, but if was in a hurry, I wouldn't use them.
Right now I have a pending order, got a mail that they received my order, 7 days ago, but I'm not too worried yet.
I ordered from Banzai the same day, and they haven't shipped yet either.

Futurlec is kinda funny. They don't have stuff like jacks or enclosures, but then you find something like CA3280 ota's for 1.50$!!!!!
And they didn't even have 13700's... ??? Their value packs are a bit hit or miss, but most of it is usable, and it's a cheap way of building
up a stock of "this-might-come-in-handy" values. But the cheap pots are what keeps me coming back!

yeah I am such a necromancer  :P. Anyways I got a whole variety of things- stripboard, value packs, diodes, toggle switches (look quite good), cheap multimeter, :icon_neutral: pots. I am quite happy with the amount of stuff I got with 34 bucks... Highly reccomended- pots, valuepacks, toggles.

nelson

The shipping may not be fast, but its bloody cheap. Doesnt go on weight either but on the value of your order.

I ordered 10 pots and 20 neutrik jacks from mouser and the shipping was 5 times as much for them than a tonne of futurlec stuff. I just wish futurlec stocked 1M log pots.

Has anyone tried the enclosed jack sockets? They look an awful lot like neutrik and switchcraft sockets.
