I've got a Boss CE-1 that works fine but in the chorus-mode there are loud "thumps" along whith the flashing led, so that when the intensity-knob is turned clockvise it comes more often.
Is suspect it might be some dried out electrolyte cap, but I really have no idea..
The schematic can be found here     [/url]http://www.geocities.com/j4_student/BossCE1.gif//I'm%20not%20able%20to%20make%20anything%20out%20of%20schematics%20this%20complex.I%20have%20been%20thinking%20about%20changing%20all%20the%20electrolytic%20caps%20just%20to%20give%20it%20a%20try,%20but%20if%20anyone%20in%20this%20forum%20could%20help%20me%20out%20i%20would%20be%20really%20greatful!

I suppose I should add that when switched to vibrato mode there's no noise.

I had a similar problem with my "ancient" Phase 90 some while ago.
I changed out all the electro/tant caps and the "thump" was gone  :D
That's probably worth trying, on the other hand, I have some stuff thats
way "older" and full of electro's with no problems at all ??

Good to hear that someone have had  positive experiences changing the caps :)  Makes it a lot easier for me to get started:)

I am also thinking about making the pedal true bypass with a 3pdt, but I'm not really sure of the best way to wire it. Should anything in the circuit itself be cut of/disconnected? Suggestions anyone?

Hi Eirik,

Use a 3PDT and keep the existing normal/effect setup so that the leds will function the same and just true bypass the input and mono output on the other poles of the switch. You'll keep the setup failrly stock and not have to remove any parts.
