Im wondering if this is some sort of stamp? Hows this done? im wanting something creative, simple, and professional as his. Im going to give up on the idea of labels- i only have a cheap ink printer. But looking at his pedals they dont seem to be hand done.

Maybe he is doing enough to silk screen?
Worthwhile for 50 or more if you are using an external screen company.

You can also get inexpensive silk screen kits for <$100, some <$50.  Unfortunately the included inks are unsuitable for sticking to pedal finishes, you have to replace those.

HI,

We use rubber ink stamps!

it's a lot of work and not easy to get consistent, but we keep on doing them on some pedals. Others are silkscreened.

it comes out best on the orange I think.

have fun!

I wanna make my own stamps! 1 for volume, gain, ect...basic ones that Id  use for most my effects- I think ive built over 25 or more that either need boxed or labeled- and these are ALL for my personal use. But before i start what i call the final phase " labeling" i want to make sure there all for the most part uniform and look good- not extravagant- but good. It seems as though the stamp idea would work great for be-at least for the basic stuff- if i can figure out an affordable way of making those.
Besides- what paint would i use that would attach to the finish without running?

analogmike,

Doesn't rubber ink wear off over time or can wear off if rubbed really hard? Are you using a special type of ink?

Thanks.

Hi,

We clear coat them and use industrial ink. We usually look like we have been eating pistachio nuts ;)

I'm using stamps as well. You'll need to find an industial ink that bonds to enamel. It even holds up under light to medium sanding (on the pedels I botched). Here's an example:

Thanks, jimbob.

I had a difficult time finding the stamps, custom ordering the stamps, finding the right ink, etc. Hopefully you can benefit from my research.

There are sets of letters that can be assembled on stamps. It's called RibType. Search the web for that. I dealt with United RibType. Some of those sites can help you with the ink, but ask very detailed questions. I'm using a sample, and I don't know the brand. You can also have custom stamps made from a file for a reasonable price.

Also, be warned. Your hand will slip and require you to repaint. There will be cursing.
