having trouble finding answer on forum, i found some threads but still confused. if it is here some where please post link. thanks

i searched the Internet for unibits and found some but still confused?
what is the difference between standard drill bits and unibits?
what is a good bit to drill an aluminum box for holes?

if it is here some where please post link. thanks :D

Sam

This is a "unibit":

I use the exact bit for my drilling. It comes fairy cheap here in Sweden. Saved me alot of sweat - since you do not need to change bits all the time. Works great.

Another note on the unibit - is that i've drilled a few STEEL RACO boxes with them with relative ease.  Aluminum is like butter.

It's quite a helpful tool.

The unibit allows you to drill different size holes with a single bit.  And it delivers diameters that may be beyond what ordinary drill bits can deliver with your drill.  You just keep going until you reach the step diameter that you want.  It also drills a hole without sharp edges.  I have never needed to dress the whole with a file.

You CAN get them at places like Home Depot and such, but Harbor Freight has a better deal on them. I got a 3 bit kit for the price of one bit at Menards; $18.99

Everytime the unibit is mentioned, I urge people to use lubrication (even if it is just olive oil) to make it last longer. Once more can't hurt

Besides-lubrication does make things more fun!

I carry the most common Unibit size, #1 (1/8" to 1/2"), for $17.96. If you need anything else for your build, you might save some money in shipping.

Yep always something I can use at smallbear too. The turnaround from order to shipping was faster than I have ever had for last order, cheers steve.

You do NOT want to know how much that unibit set is in the UK

how much?

The thing that I like about the UniBit is that there is about 3/8" between steps. That gives you more flexibility with what you can drill with it. Most of the other step drill bits that I have seen only allow you to drill thru material that is about 1/8" thick.
