Well, actually I've built a Fat Boost as well but I haven't seen it since the day after I built it, a friends has it and won't give it back :)

Basicall "Mr Happy" is a Ts808 clone with a .047uf input cap and Keeley baked mod cap and resistor combo in the clipping section. (1.5k and .22uf  which I have socket in case I change my mind! and of course I just did ... now has the TS standard of .047uf and 4.7k ... not reflected in the sound clips though ...)

TI4558P, I have it socketed as well and may try a Burr Brown ...

I put 3 switchable diode settings:

1 Tubescreamer style D2 4148, D3 4148
2 Brian's F#$%tone mod D2 4001,1n34,4001 in series D3 4001,1n34
3 No Diodes.

All metal film res and panasonic caps where possible.

Here's the sound clips through my JCM800 head.

Ist is no pedal
2nd is my Modded TS808
3rd is MRHappy 1 ( Tubescreamer )
4th is MRHappy 2 (F#$%Tone)
5th is no diodes.

Paint is Rustoleum, a paint marker for the lettering, a sharpy for the outline of the lettering and stickers stolen from my 3 year old :)

Nice work. I am working on a TS-808 clone with some of the same mods at this time. I'll be lucky if it comes out as nice as your when I'm finished.

Where did you get the panasonic caps? I have a hard time finding metal film caps. I don't remember seeing panasonic in the mouser catalog.

Outrageous decals. Remember guitarists take/buy with their eyes as well as their ears. Not to denigrate the tone of the pedal which is awesome!

Excellent work and shockingly good for a first build, I wshed mine looked as colourful as that.

Thanks guys! ... It's a pretty funky look but with a name like Melanhead I figured I may as well be a bit different :) ...

I think you'll find that TI and BB are now the same company.

A Redcap, A Redcap, before the Kiss, before the Kiss [Blue Oyster Cult].
I haven't seen a brown flat cap depicted here in quite a while !
The little red ones look bright there.

Forgot to mention that it didn't work right away and took about a half hour to troubleshoot:

The 47uf cap on the Vb was shorted! ... hmmm, lesson learned, throw bad parts in the garbage and not in the used parts drawer!

I forgot one of the jumpers so the signal was leaving the 4558 and flying into the air :D

Quick fixes with a multimeter and signal tracer.
