Hey there, I'm new here.
I'm doing an MXR distortion + for my tech GCSE and have been told that since you don't know if it will sound good if you design the circuit yourself, I am allowed to use a circuit already made, if I make a modification.

I am trying to combine http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=4 (The MXR version on that) with offboard wiring style 5(removing the power supply jack) from http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=76

I came up with

If this is correct I'll redo the schematic properly for my project. If not could someone point me in the right direction?
Cheers, George.

Quote from: idiot savantI didn't look at the pic, but the BEST offboard wiring schemes can be had at:

Ok, cheers. I just wanted to know if the links were right from the offboard to the mxr circuit though :)

Offboard wiring is 'generic'. There are different ways to do it. AFAIK they all work.
I prefer DPDT or 3PDT [for LED indicator switching], wired true bypass.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Ah.. seems like everyone misunderstood. I just wanted people to check that I wired them together right before I go make something wrong. I was kinda guessing where to link the wires.

EDIT: also it uses a 3PDT switch with LED

Yours looks good to me. Go for it and have fun.

Cheers. Will do. :D  Can't wait till it's finished. I reckon I'm gonna get a couple of sockets and a hellova lot of a diodes and LEDs and just try it all even though I know I'll settle on LEDs regardless of sound :P  8)

Check this out from the beginner forum (you should check out everything in there)

What value pots are you using? I just ask this question because when I was building mine the good people here suggested that I use a 100k log pot for the volume control and a 500k reverse log pot for the gain. I found these values work quite well. Best of luck with your build.

I'll buy a few different ones I think and include those ones. Cheers!
