A friend just gave me his old Soundtracs mixer .....
It no longer works ( PSU problems ) but it is 32 channels ... each with
a full size "strip" including Alps fader/13 pots/knobs and goodness knows
how many components on each strip   :D  :D
Plus 16 more channels for monitoring ...... and about a mile of cable.....

That's about 250 high quality pots for a kick off !!!!
Some dual ganged/stereo  and some with "detents"

I'll post a pic tomorrow when I get this thing opened up, I only have a
16 channel section at the moment ......

Dont use it for parts, A 32 channel mixer is way more usable that its parts

dude, a soundtracs is typically a nice board....  

repair it and use it....

Too late ... he cut it up already into sections !!!
It weighs a TON and he replaced it with a mackie 32-8  :shock:
I'm rescuing it from a trip to the dump .... :D
I dont have room/time to do that anyway... nor a use for it, I have a
32-8 also .....

I have done a lot of the same thing when it comes to gutting for parts, although, I have never had a score that big.  A couple days ago, I got a Marantz 8 track player at a flea market for 5 bucks. It was absolutely top of the line in it's day, and may have still worked, but I don't want to be in the the equipment repair business. I'm sure it was headed to the dump if I didn't buy it, and it was chocked full of transistors, and 1N60 diodes. It does almost make you sick sometimes to tear perfectly good stuff apart, but it's just as outdated as the technology we're currently building, so I just give it another life.

You might want to save a couple channel strips to put on e-bay or to rack up for nice mic pres/eqs.

Yes, i thought of that, side on minus the fader, its probably "rackable" in
a standard 19inch size !
I'm guessing that apart from 48volts for mic use, internally it was
probably a 15v supply .... I'll have a look tomorrow.

Soundtrac's are a very well made board what model is it I probably have the schematics somewhere. It has 'British EQ' I have always wondered what actually they mean by british eq must be a reference to Rupert Neve

I had only seen the desk in "pieces" for some time, turns out that its a
"StudioMaster 16/16"  from about 1987/88 NOT soundtracs !!!

I gather that its not as good a board as a soundtracs......
