adding diodes to fetzer valve

Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to add diodes to the fetzer valve to create a distortion type pedal, thanks in advance for any help, a possible picture or very simple explanation, I'm still new at this.

After the 22n cap before the output pot, try a pair of germanium diodes
from that point to ground, one each way, then continue that trace to the
pot as normal.
