so im looking athis little amp thing looks quite cool but how can such a little amp (1/2W i think i saw) run speakers??? do u need a bigger amp to boost it to run speakers as the next stage?

Peter Snowberg

If you run one into a 4x12 cabinet, 1/2 watt will easily get you kicked out of an apartment.

It's very much in the speaker.

I use a similar 386 amp into my Leslie cabinet which has a 15 inch woofer. it's LOUD!!!!!  :o

Driving a 2 inch radio speaker it won't make nearly as much noise. Connect it to one of your stereo speakers and listen to the difference.

Build one and find out just how loud 1/2 watt can be. :D

Here it is ...

http://www.runoffgroove.com/ruby.html

There's a circuit diagram and a perfboard layout on that page. There's also a Vero layout floating around.

Hats off to the Runoffgroove team!
