that ones pretty bad ass, what did you use for a bottom cover?

$uperpuma

I like all these bowl, pan type enclosures...but I have the same question...what can you do for a bottom?
Breadboards are as invaluable as underwear - and also need changed... -R.G.

I've been wondering the same.
I'd feel a little uneasy about having the guts unprotected.

or..at having someone see my messy wiring... ;)

I just want the record to show that I always try to protect my bottom.

christobean

this could lead to some good ideas, so im startin a new thread about it  8)

hey, hey, just look around, I would say. So I was reading these replies with the fuzz sitting on a pile of cd case when I realised that the bottom fitted right within cd case. EUREKA! Where's my spray can?

I secured it with superglue in such a way that it's solid for the rehearsal room, and I can reopen it with an Exacto knife. Cannot go about drilling screw holes, that would chip up the paint, that's all for next time, this was only an experiment.

got to be lucky sometimes.

gets even better, even tried to modify the link (you can do that shortly after posting), and it didn't edit:

this is the real bottom, the cd spraycanned black, the other was just to show what it was. will improve my technique, this is going to be a series. just biased a piggybacked silicon npn rangemaster at exactly 7V, like RG suggested, and it sounds fat.

Interesting looking group you have there Jamforthelamb. I don't think I've heard of a Doctor Who pedal before ...have to look that one up.

nice collection.  you like those LDRs.  lotta questions... how did you modify that fabecho?  i just built a lofomofo, how did you modify that?  do you have any closer pics of that DR. W case?  looks cool.  how bout that "simplified" parallel universe?  thanks!

fab echo with a feedback loop ... tweakable by that huge LDR ...i think !!

that sounds right.  looks like the same thing he did with the feedback looper (although i can't find the ldr, you can see the switch to "cell" for photocell).

There's actually a lot in the archives on this (look at Gagan/Skyripper, or skillet). The mosly used trick is glueing in threaded sleeves with two-component epoxy contact-cement, which works very well and leaves a pro connection. Do keep in mind that these bonds get stronger when there's less of a gap for the contact-cement to fill so either use one in the center of the bowl (where the surface is parallel to the bottom) or grind the sleeve to an appropriate angle (which can be hard)

choklitlove: The Fab Echo doesn't come with any kind of rate control stock, so that's what the added pot and LDR do, I also removed the limiting resistor for the feedback pot so that it will feedback if you want it to. See the thread here for details: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=41465.0

I'm a bit shakey on the mods of the LoFoMoFo because it was my first build, and I kinda did them Circuit Bending style by just randomly poking around. I used the schematic found here (futher down): http://www.vmsrecords.com/dissolute/pedals.html I couldn't get the shottkey diode thing to work right, so instead I added a pot that I think is controlling ground to the first trans. that makes it pretty much do the same "blown speaker" thing. I also made it so that I can switch between 2 different caps for filtering.

The "Dr. W." is mounted in an old battery tester with all of the components removed. I'll see about getting some more photos later.

The simplified Parallel Universe went to a friend in Detroit. He wanted a pedal that he could mount on his guitar, that would make weird oscillator noises. At the time the only pedal I knew of that did something like that was the PU, so I talked to Colin on his forum about it, and he guided me through cutting everything but the Osc. part out. The sad thing is the guitar that my friend was going to use this for ended up being in too bad of shape playing wise to be useful. So, now I think he just uses it as a tabletop effect.

Chok: The LDR on the feedback looper is just to the right of where the words "Feedback Level" is written. I didn't have anymore of the big ones at the time, so it's a little one glued in from the back side.

The Psychtar, and Feedback looper are mounted in old air pumps (one from an aquarium, one from a breast pump  :-X ) I've found these to be made out of very durable plastic, so that can be another of the many resources for alt.  cases (If you haven't noticed I'm all about that  ;) )

Thanks!

Roobin

wow, nice bunch. What the FAB echo like?

Jamforthelamb

Not too shabby, considering it started out as a slapback echo pedal. Delays well (although the notes "decay" when there are lots of repeats). Not such a bad thing really, gives it that lofi sound.
The LDR allows for some crazyness, and I also have a little expression box I built with an LFO inside that blinks an LED glued to an LDR for some pulse-y madness. I need to get some sound samples up one of these days.

Thanks!

I've made my own "improved" version of the Dr. Who wich is in the Layouts Gallery:

http://aronnelson.com/gallery/MayheM%21

A lot of fun for such a simple design! I found different versions of the 567 (i.e. LM567 NE/SE/KE567)
all respond a little different, wich makes it a bit of a "YMMV" project.

I'm currently working on a envelope triggered version...
It's supposed to sound that way.

Well theres some nice stompboxes on here thought I'd post a few.  Nothing too fancy.  I got a few still out on loan.  Man I want em back
