This would be cool as the topic of the next competition! Design the pedal which is most Dali-esque (to be interpreted by the individual). Of course, we'd see some people pasting melting clocks on regular pedals, but those truly abstract thinkers among us would surely think of some very clever and subversive takes on that idea. My only gripe about the last competition is that it was purely about looks. I think for the next one, sound should at least be taken into consideration, if someone is able to create something which is surreal both visually and aurally.

I agree : neat job, John, both in wiring and finishing - nothing to do with what is shown in the Schumann's pedal thread.

The very simple painting job (I mean : only juste one nice color) is simply something that I always stay unable to achieve with a decent resistance to use and abuse (bumps, scratch, etc...). There is a skill secret than I don't know.

And how did you get the surface with all those small holes? Acid bath?

It's a Vein surface powder, chemical reaction with dissimilar ingredients.
I distressed it with steel wool as well.

It's an old stock of 50/60's somewhat cheap bakelite terminal board I have for years. This model, which exists in different sizes, was a very common in Europe - you could find in the VOX AC30. I think's it's possible to find a reissue for it, now (?). The drawback is if the schematic is complex, the lenght of the board increases... And so the size of the stompbox - here's my Double-Tone-Bender (MKII+MKIII) that I may have probably already displayed :
