It's a Hammond enclosure, very good quality.

hammond yeah! thought so...much better than eddystone rubbish!..they are really rough!!!.. :icon_evil:
even with lots of sanding they are grainy and have blotchy grain/cast marks that cant be removed...
will have to try and find a uk seller for them... :icon_rolleyes:

edit: poor slade!...stop picking on him.... :icon_mrgreen:

Hi,

you've seen my etched pedals above here? These are Eddystone enclosures! No rubbish but good quality for a good price if you ask me. If I would have sanded them up to 1200 they would shine and blink like chrome. You maybe mistaken them with NSC enclosures which are grainy and of poor quality for such purposes.

Cheers

(Other than the white Stomp washer) I love it.
Nice use of the switch as well. Much sturdier than the standard toggle.

TKS!
I really like the  switch in this location.

i use eddystone.(lighthouse inside)..they are not the same high quality as hammond...i have just found a hammond distributor(trade counter) just down the road from me...i'll buy a couple and post a pic of the difference, they are more rounded too...imo!..and cheaper than maplins etc....great!

I know what you mean deadastronaut, I guess you got your enclosures from Bitsbox? The first one they sent me was a Hammond which shined up in a few minutes but after that I got the eddystones which have like a 'water staining' on them I guess from the production process.

Fuzz Aldryn

I use Eddystones WITHOUT a light house inside. So that might be the point. They are perfect and as good as the Hammonds for half the price.

deadastronaut

@scruffie...i got mine from maplins..yep, dodgy quality boxes for etching ..going to rs tomorrow to buy hammonds..... :icon_mrgreen:

@fuzz aldryn..then you my friend are very lucky indeed..
all my ones have the eddystone lighthouse embossed inside em...and are moody for nice shiny etching...... :icon_mrgreen:

I find the Eddystone/Hammond (Hammond labels and Eddystone lighthouse on the inside) from both Rapid and Banzai clean up really well. Not etched them but have sanded them up to a near perfect shine.

deadastronaut

yep great!...but they do tend to dull very quickly too...it may be the content/ purity of the aluminium that differs!!!!!

all im saying is the quality seems to be much better!...imo!.. ;)

How long did you work on the box?

How long did i work on it, or how long it take to etch?

I don't really know how long it took... I was working on this most of yesterday,  but not just on the sanding/etching/polishing. The etching took about 10 minutes.
Sanding takes a while, i would guess about 30 minutes or more for each enclosure. I took more because i was still getting the feel of how much i had to take with each sandpaper grain to have a good base for the next one. Polishing is pretty quick, and it's less tiring. The drill does most of the work.

Those enclosures walls are so thick!  :icon_eek:

Great looking pedals, do you clear coat over the sticker?

Yes! Like the China Walls.  :P

Yes 2 ! I put the sticker in the right placement then I clear coat the box.
