@chris cheers for the pointers man, i'll have a look around.

@haddock..i'm surprised nobody asked about your pot leds?...looks good..

drilled through the shaft i presume..cool. :icon_cool:

@pigyboy...man they look slick... :icon_cool:

@guitarify...nice design dude...top tip..use nail polish on the big black areas before etching..to avoid those speckled bits... :icon_wink:

I've built a tube bass pre + VCA based compressor for my bass recently. The tube part is a typical fender clean channel (triode stage-EQ-triode stage) circuit using RFT ECC81. The compressor part is solid state, based on THAT4301 app.

Hand painted enclosure + decals.

NICE JOB FREE ELECTRON!  I love that!  Did you actually make that PCB too?  Either way, still great work.  Nice job on the tube vent drilling... just a great all around job.

I've never seen a DPDT thru-board wiring setup like that either, but I get it.  Very cool!

Thank you!
Yes, i've made it. Actually it's a kinda gorilla style pcb, a double sided mixture of thru-hole (high voltage tube part) and SMT (low voltage solid state) components, placed on both layers. This pedal is highly experimental, many things could be done in a simpler way, but i wanted to try some ICs in action, like the SSM2402 used to bypass the compressor part.

frequencycentral -->> Cool knobs! :)

Rick; you don't need to feel sheepish. Some of these beautiful builds are of things you helped to design/designed, for a start!

And that's a very nice build in itself. Is that the power supply around the switch?

Thanks! Yup it's a voltage multipier. I originally designed the pedal to run on 12 volts, but 12 volts is such a hassle on a pedalboard, so I redesigned it to run on 9 volts with an in-built votage multiplier to get up to 18 volts. I used a version 1 PCB though, the new version 2 PCB has the voltage multiplier integrated onto the main PCB.

Thanx deadastronaut, yes, i drilled through the shaft (2mm). There is a turitorial in the german forum and i have no troubels with this
system.

100% agree...

I love the lateral thinking that goes into making alternatives to Hammond boxes. What is that, a hard drive enclosure?  I like the utilitarian look of the finished piece, reminds me of old military gear. Cool.

Big up to trendyironicname for Hammond dodging too.  Looks pro and pretty, and fit-for-purpose, without conforming.

phector2004

Rick, that looks pro! What's the current draw on it, now that it's got both a 1044 and a filament?

Free electron, very cool build! Where'd you put the transformers??
Also, what enclosure is that? I've been looking to house a small amp project for a while now...

Holy cr@p  that's primer! I did not see it as I weren't expecting it! Wow.. nice job, good idea too. Well worth the try on my next build.
Do you have a link to that german forum?

Cheers!

Galego

Not much for imagination today, just some polished enclosures.

I think we'll need to call Nasa to decipher this one.  :icon_mrgreen:

The enclosure is Hammond 26827PSLA, i bought it at elfa.se
The power supply pcb is on the bottom plate (added one pic to the post above).

It's a small network switch, I like the humor of putting a switch on a switch :D Maybe I should have gone for a A/B/Y in there.

My next (stomp) project will be four circuits in a larger network switch. Current list (might change) is LPB-1, Orange Squeezer, Little angel and some fuzz, possibly another Trotsky. I don't dare putting a Tiny Trem in there, might get four ticking curcuits.
