Runoffgroove Thor. I made it have two switchable bright caps. 4.7nF and 470pF, on a ON-OFF-ON toggle.
Top mount jacks, and a small profile DC Jack from musikding. :D

As far as the end of the world...in the Marvel universe, Thor at one point helped to bring about Ragnarok and destroy Asgard.  :icon_razz:

The Babelfish

The end of the world theme is a bit tenuous but I guess there's enough people here who've heard of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to get it. It's a Spin FV-1 based multiFX pedal, with an LCD screen driven by a PIC to show the patch name and tell you what the knobs do. Video, schematic, vero layout and code to follow.

Good luck to all you hoopy froods :)

Slacker, my entry was to be called "Intergalactic superexpresswah", a 1590A, inductor + 2 ldr wah. I totally get the Hitchhikers Guide reference ;)

Govmnt_Lacky: I wanted to take the same pic as you did, I love the horse on the right side. Fortunately I choose another one :D

Here's my

Orange Peel ~ Maya Edition

Not enough time (at least not for me), sloppy cabling, not really thoroughly thought through arrangement of the stuff inside the enclosure. As always "next time everything on pcb" :D
My first "big" perf pcb and it is not that bad.

At first the pics then the explanation:
Pics are clickable... damn imagebam prohibits inline linking....

As you know the maya had this wonderfull calendar that predicts the end of the Nine Underworlds on 14 July 2012 and the descent of Bolon Yokte' K'uh at the end of b'ak'tun 13 (December 21 2012).
Some might say that this hell of a god is going to do some nasty stuff to our world..... :icon_twisted:  but as I learned it is just the beginning of a new era ;)
Unfortunately I started "designing...." this enclosure a few days before they found a new calendar in May this year.

I spend hour of searching for maya glyphs and finally found a few that might fit to the english words:

Glyph above the foot switch means B'AK'TUN 13. Engage the pedal and wipe out this world  :icon_evil:
Glyphs from right to left:
  CHAAN/KAAN --> "sky" --> treble
  KAB' --> "earth" --> bass
  JOM --> "to throw down, to destroy, to demolish, to end" --> gain
  LA-KA-MA --> "large, big, great" --> volume

The rotary switch is for the high pass filter.
You can't see it but the orange LED melts your eyes if you look into it like this small guy.
The inside is green because I wanted to put some aquarium plastic plants in it to create a rain forrest and put some alien miniatures between the plants. You know, in our real world the aliens killed all this poor maya guys.
This stuff didn't arrive yet.... ::)

Ok now am I the penultimate?  :-X

No, just two colors. The "threadplate" is pure etched alluminium, cleaned with acetone after etch. The etched bit looked totally like threadplate, so I just left it that way.

If you build, they will come!
We have a weener!

eta: got yelled at... Chrissy came up with those.   :icon_lol:
eta2: no pun intended on that last one. Sorry, lol... I couldn't resist.
Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

R.G. Keene: EXPECT there to be errors, and defeat them...

LucifersTrip

This is the end of the world / end of days / judgement day...from Satan's point of view, of course.

The idea was to build something like I've never seen, and make it a complete piece of artwork using mixed media (metal, wood, plastic) with a large chunk of effort put into the interior "art" as well as the exterior.

It's black & blood...

I first tracked down a vintage enclosure deep enough to "handle" the cross. The  perf layout and board size was designed to fit into the original mounting holes in the enclosure, with other sections carved away to handle the pots, jacks & switch.

The circuit is a heavily modified version of an obscure vintage germanium fuzz called an UMI Buzztone. The exapander has been removed and is set, basically, to maximum fuzz. Instead of the "buzz" control, I found my favorite two settings: a straight out fuzz and a pinched version of that fuzz with slight octave. That switch flips between those two.

I used a couple rare vintage germanium black hat transistors and enbedded them externally, into the cross on either side of the hands. A purple LED is embedded on top. The wiring from those three pieces was carefully threaded through a chrome LED bezel behind the cross. The solid black cross was modded (chopped & partially repainted) and mounted through the enclosure at an angle leaning backwards to better mesh with the contour of the stepped enclosure, with a wooden block (not seen, under perf) used to support it. I "sacrificed" one more even rarer black hat germanium transistor for diode use on the perf.

All wires, pots, jacks and switch are black or have been "blackened".

The edges of the jacks, solder points on the pots, solder points on the switch and all long solder "trails" on the circuit board actually glow-in-the-dark, though, I wasn't able to take a good picture of that. This is the best:
http://www.luciferstrip.com/fuzz/1000/devil8.jpg

On the exterior, the gold crosses in front are not glued on, but instead are embedded/ melted into the enclosure.

...and the birchwood base that the cross is mounted through is stained with human blood (really).

I don't think anything else needs an explanation...
