ok, not a stompbox....but hey.. :)

on this box i just sanded, ironed on toner, then clearcoated....ive tried this simpler toner graphics method before but the black went grey after a while once clearcoated ::), but i have it sussed now....

i used a toothbrush to get rid of any residue/fibres which may be the cause of the 'grey' instead of 'black' ...dry...then repeat... you can be quite vigorous with it , seems to have worked nicely.

thus nice n easy graphics. ;) 8)

now to try it on colour toner.. :icon_idea:

@deadastro

What grit do you sand the aluminum with just before attempting any transfers or etches? What do you go up to?

Thanks Rob!  ;)

Getting ready to etch an aluminum plate and I wanted to know a good grit to sand with to do a PnP blue transfer. I have had miserable failures in the past and want to try again.

I use 400, then 800 for my etching. Have tried going all the way up to 2000 before but 400>800 works well for me. Remember to clean with alcohol after sanding before doing the transfer, very important! :)

maybe it's the photo, but that finish is pretty funky/unique.
Is that board self-etched? Is there a pcb layout floating around here?
Mockingbird wish me luck.

I've been thinking about using toner as labels. Now I know it works, I'm going to give it a go.
Mockingbird wish me luck.

Yup its a self etched board. Its from the Neutron PDF from RG , or the pdf of the same project at GGG.

Yeah man the paint is funky and cool , the pictures dont do it justice. It changes from gold to green depending on the angle you look at it. Looks better to the human eye then the phone camera haha.

The paint is made for lexan rc car bodys from Spaz Stix. Its pretty cool paint. I tested it on a 1950a and I think it looked better because of the smaller case closer angles. Very cool paint. I have some other stuff I'm working on that will be very cool in the way of paint jobs! I can't wait to get something done with it to show!  :icon_biggrin:

I got a 1590B from John Lyons with a similar paint job. It really does look awesome in person.
