This is JMK's SCUBA Muff built on a vero. I've used his PCB for this before and gave it away as a gift. Since I didn't have another PCB handy and I wanted to get it built, I modified a Big Muff vero to match JMK's component values.

Here's JMK's build info:
http://www.jmkpcbs.com/JMK_PCBs/Store_files/Scuba%20Muff.pdf

JMK's diode switcher switches between two sets of clipping diodes, but I used a 4 throw rotary switch and used the following combinations:

1) Two 1N4148
2) Two 3mm LEDs
3) Two Ge
4) Three Schottkys  arranged asymmetrically

Here are my photos. This has to be one of my ugliest wiring jobs, but it sounds great!  This is my second pour-on epoxy job.

The vero board looks like hell because I made grid lines with a Sharpie, and then when I was finished, I cleaned the back of the board with acetone. The Sharpie ink ran into the board's holes and made it look like I had burned the hell out of the board. Lesson learned!

I always wonder what a fuzz played on guitar under water would look  like. inkjet, and some kind of varnish*?  anyway, job well done!

have green knob for the switch if you want so you get a more a smooth rainbow scale/gradient/whatever up there on the control layout. if you want one ;D

(or maybe it sould be red + the blue and purple switch around?)

*if epoxy, can you tell what type/brand (perhaps on amazon or sth), because a i know about is two component epoxy glue and while it may work, it's also expensive, and i guess the hardener is unnecesary when used this whay, and also makes stuff look less transparent. so i'm trying to figure out what this epoxy would be, in our non-english world, might also be 1-component epoxy, but may have another common name

LOL-thanks! Now that you mention it, I remember a Joe Walsh album cover with him underwater.

I debated the red and green knobs, but it sounds better this way. ;)

The finish is a two-part epoxy called Envirotex Lite. I learned about it from Mustachio. You just mix equal parts of the two ingredients and pour it on. You have to elevate the enclosure to avoid having it glued to the surface under it. It also needs I be level. It's about 2mm thick and looks better in person. Here's the manufacturer's website.  http://eti-usa.com/mobile/envirotex.php. It costs about $22US for enough to coat four or five BB enclosures.

Pour on looks great. What, no tropical fish caps?!?  :D

duck_arse

that, jd, is probably the first, and possibly the last, pedal I've seen suited to (by?) four different knob colours.
granny at the G next satdy eh.

yeah, matching fish , guitar , and knobs...can't go wrong!. 8)

Dang! I wish I'd thought of that!

Thanks! I debated whether to go multicolor or not at the risk of looking like a FisherPrice toy or looking gay (nothing against gays-I love gays- wait, I mean that they're Ok, oh never mind, it's not gay).

I'm loving the near transparent pcb.
Great work guys. Inspiring.

Hello, first pedal of the year and at my speed maybe the only...

Reworked the Tonepad layout with Inkscape to use box caps, change some of the power filtering and add in a feedback trimmer... pretty much as shown. Did the boards in January 3013, painted the box in April/May 2013, i'm sure i used the name long before i saw a commercial pedal with the same name, oh well. Finished and boxed up over the past month... slooooow progress but par for the course, one down and one to go.

cheers,
dave
