nice...........very very nice...... :icon_biggrin:

were did you get those lovely knob....

It's a DPDT on-off-on Switch that changes between no Q1's source cap (vintage = some nice bluesy sounds, with more spark), 0,33uF cap (Raw = nice hard rock tones, no compression) and 22uF cap (Modern = a little more distortion and fat bass).

Sorry, I've answered the wrong person.

Anyway, I bought those knobs here in my country (Brazil), and they're pretty crappy. I'll paint them tomorrow to match Mesa Road King knobs' color.

Victor, this sound interesting!
Thanks for posting this by mistake.

If I get you right...

Vintage = the stock value
Raw = 0.33uf
Modern = 22uf (electrolytic?)

I guess I could breadboard the first stage and patch it into the PCB to experiment with some values, hummmm.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

Hey Guys...I've been lurking at this site for months but I've now got my act together and here are a couple of pix!  :)

The first is a 741 based Ge diode distortion that I made about ten years ago  :icon_eek:..I found the circuit in a library book (before I had internet at home - yes, there was such a time!)...I think it was one of Penfolds books...great sounding smooth distortion with heaps of sustain...when I get my computer working I might post a sound clip...

The second is an EA Tremolo with my effort at decoupage (used Beat Magazine articles - Melbourne music rag) ...sounds good to me!!

BTW: both are stripboard builds.

Here are some of my builds...

Bluesbreaker - this was my first complete build, now it's looking a bit worn

Distortion+

Big Muff Pi - a bit light etch, but otherwise great build.

Yes, that's correct. All eletrolytic. You could get more diference between Raw and Modern by setting Raw = 0.1uF. Try and see. :)

Hi All,

I really liked the look of these knobs as well... they seem to be the right size for a 16mm pot and also seem to have a skirt that allows you to cover the washer and nut.... I hate to hear though that the quality is not so good... which brings me to the question I have....

Is there interest in solid aluminium knobs much like this, with a skirt and done with the intention for them to be painted to match the enlclosure.... I am thinking of doing something close..... mine would be designed for the 1/4 solid shaft and would have a set screw.....

I don't want to hijack here, so I will probably post this in it's own thread as well.....

Thanks,

Mick

BTW, GREAT looking pedal!!!!    ;D ;D ;D

Me again, this time with my Weber pedal transformer based power supply built into my road-ready pedal board with an integrated mic stand.
Everything in one place with a single power cord and 2 guitar cables (one for guitar signal, the other for amp channel switching).
Even my wireless is built into this thing along with an old PC cooling fan.

Right now, I'm only using 7 of the 11vac windings from the tranny rectified and regulated to 9vdc to power pedals on 6 'power channels' with another used to power the cooling fan and one more unused in reserve. I also still have the single 9vac 2A winding unused and reserved for future expansion or mods at some point. I measured the power draw of all my pedals and anything that drew more than 10mA is on it's own 300mA power channel. Those under 10mA are shared lines totaling no more than about 15mA. This way, I have so much power overhead that even if I plug into the worst bar power in the world, at least my pedals will always sound exactly the same.

The case itself is electrically grounded for safety and the mic stand base integrated into the board is isolated from anything electrical. I may bridge a ground over to that at some point in the future as well just for a little extra safety factor. These days, I am wireless so shocks are pretty much a memory of gigs past. (thank GOD!)  ;D

I didn't do any power sag controls, reverse polarity or other special power needs stuff on this, I just don't need anything like that. It would be pretty easy to add to it if I ever change my mind though. The best part about this rig now is that I can be entirely set up in about 2 minutes at gigs from opening the case to having my amp and mic all wired up. The icing on the cake is the fact that I've divested myself of all wall warts and power strips for what looks to the audience or anyone who notices clutter onstage to be about the cleanest 'packed' pedal board around. One by one, everything on my pedal board will be replaced with DIY pedals or ones I've modded with the possible exception of the tuner.

Enjoy!

My Momma always said, "Stultus est sicut stultus facit".
She was funny like that.

Yeah, it's the bypass...at the time I couldn't find a proper stomp switch....

That is a great idea, I should try that next time I build a DRB.

foxfire

my last 2 builds.

the orange one is a Red Fuzz,http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=90&Itemid=26 with a switch for different diodes. i have to say that this pedal god damn rocks! i only built it because i had read way too many posts saying how good it was for it not to be good. hell i didn't even find the sound clip till after i had built it(but before i got it working correctly). i'm thinking i'll just get a paint pen and let my lady label it cause i'll end up getting pissed off at the pedal if i try to label it and so far it has been a pleasant surprise.
the green one is Tim Escobedo's ugly face, http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html , http://www.home-wrecker.com/uglyface.html. i have burnt out 4 radio shack cmos555's so far but, when it works it's one hell of a sound/pedal. it'll be good for screwing with sound guys and when i get into laser gun fights.
these were my first pedals with ic's so thanks all you how took the time to answer my questions.

Victor

Almost finished. Can't decide which knobs would be the best (maybe the yellow chicken head ones, combined w/ a green or blue led)..

I got it when I bought my solder station from Circuit Specialists. Here is the link:

I had to bend jack tabs and smash the board into the enclosure, but it finally worked. Now I'm afraid to open it to add an led.

Rebote 2.0

it was a bit of a squeeze.  it was my first experiment on putting the power jack on top.  Most likely wouldn't do it again, because it left little room for the circuit board.

I love this delay though... I like it much more than the rebote 2.5, which i built a few months ago

Seems that the picture links on my first post don't work so here they are again in order of appearance: Bluesbreaker, Distortion+ and Big Muff Pi

now this is just beautiful!! I love the bluesbreaker.. Etched?

yep, all are etched. Muffs etching is way too light thou
