Oh and I forgot to mention I get all excited when I see guitars like your green beauty right there. I've always had the hots for P90's and I adore green tellys. By the way, doesn't the bridge cover, despite its sexy looks, disturb when you do palm muting? Looks impossible to me...

Jimbo

Ah... I take the bridge cover off most times.. You're absolutely right: Palm mutes would get quite hard to accomplish. I just love the looks ;)

@G-spot : That phone rules! Have you taken it on stage yet? I'm sure it would get some funny looks.. specially when you step on it  :icon_mrgreen:  I was just thinking.. You could use the phone's earpiece as an on/off switch (when the receiver is lifted, the effect activates)

@ Kusi: Nice to know I'm not the only swiss guy in here..  8)  Grüezi wohl!

I've used sheet metal 1,5mm alu.

I love the roll bar--how'd you do it?
Ben
Well, I'll try to explain. Pardon my English though.
I've used a 6mm stainless pipe. I bend it with a special tool, pipebender maybe? Cut it so it gets the dimension I want. Then I drill the end of the pipes and use a screwthread? to get a M5 dim thread. Then it gets glasblasted? and a few layers of clearcoat.
So then I can bolt the rollbar on from underneath, it also hold the circuitboard for the tubes.

It's always fun to see how people integrate the switch plunger or knobs into the graphic.  Has anyone ever done, say, a "Sticky Fingers" graphic  :icon_twisted:?

More Fun with Etched Graphics

Computer graphics etched using PnP Blue, a laser printer, and ferric chloride.

About a year ago I did this: BSIAB (GGG)

Now I've done this: Fat Boostered (GGG)

A close-up

And This: AMZ MosFet (TP)
The iron was too hot and I got way more leaks through the PnP.
Now I use the "polyester setting" on the iron with the PnP blue. Tossed on some glitter too.
Can you spot the mistake?

Painting with ferric chloride: EH LPB1 (TP)
I spent some time trying to make a neater etch by painting heated Ferric
Chloride on with a brush. (remember the microwave oven thread?)
But it bubbled so much that it's just as messy as laying the box
face down in an 1/8" of FC. I still had to sand down the sides to remove FC stains.
And it takes longer because I had to regularly wipe up the slag and paint on fresh FC.
I dumped the painting idea and ended up using a 100w lite bulb in a clip lamp to heat the FC before
the box goes face down for 2 to 3 min. I used rubber washers to "float" the box.
I found it was best to etch before drilling holes.

How I did it:
I used PhotoShot LE to make a graphic I liked. You can only use black (masked area) or white (etched area).
When the graphic was finished I mirrored it and printed it on to the PnP Blue. I need to try that t-shirt transfer stuff some time.
Step 1: Sand box top flat and smooth finishing with 280 grit wet sanding and clean.
Step 2: Iron on the transfer paper. Use a low to med setting - not too hot. Let box cool before removing PnP blue. Lift and peek to see if transfer has holes. If so, lay it back down and iron some more.
Step 3: etch in hot ferric chloride for 2 - 3 min. I used a clip lamp,100w lite bulb to pre-heat the FC , and a shallow plastic tub.
Step 4: Remove from etchant, wash in water.
Step 5: Wet sand the top to remove the PnP mask.
Step 6: Sand the FC stains off the sides.

And while I'm at it, here's my first three build from 2004.

And a cute Mini-Booster in a 1590A box

here's my FireFly too.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

Oh boy do I love etched boxes! You have some additional black paint in those etch-holes, right? Looks sweet, Pushtone!

Jimbo

Pushtone

No black paint, thats the color the etch leaves behind. I should try etching, painting, sanding to get some color in the holes.

You swapped the In/out jacks. Or maybe you want it that way?

Pushtone

Looks like we have a winner  ;)
Your very close. The in and outs are where you would expect them. (I can't have the input on left, thats crazy talk)
The lables for the jacks are switched. The lesson of the story is be carefull when mirroring the graphic, and tripple check before etching. This box got sanded down SO many times during the painting experiments that someday I'll go to step on it and it will cave in!  :icon_eek:
