That's my second try. I didn't get this one as deep as the first, but it still turned out ok. Just make sure to get everything masked off correctly and get a good transfer (I used Staples photo paper).

Really nice !!!  Cream and green is great !  :o  But don't bring it when camping, you're sure to loose it !

Actually, it started out white, but I tried a new clear paint and it yellowed. It made me mad at first, but then I really liked the way it turned out. I only hope I can duplicate the process later!

Awesome pravudh,

Two tube screamers and a chorus?

Love the wood sides and etching.
Those labels are never going to chip off!

Did you make the enclosure?
It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.

Maybe you could laminate a thin sheet of lexan over it to protect it.

It has a THICK coating of acrylic spray on it now. :)

I meant for future builds. Looks like an ebay item to me  :icon_biggrin:

I'll bet it would look cool if you put the paint dribbles on it & swirled it some, then put the lexan over it while it was wet, then the paint would 'glue' it together.

Hi!

First post on the picture thread. I finally got to paint almost my stompboxes over the last 2 weeks.
If anyone is interested, here is the finishing process :

1- Sand enclosure with 220 grit
2- I tape the enclosure on a cardboard tube (like the tube inside a toilet paper roll) from the inside so I can hold the enclosure when painting and it can stand nicely when drying.
3- Clean enclosure with acetone.
4- 3 coats of krylon primer, wait 15-20 minutes between coats (no oven or anyting, room temperature).
5- Let sit 24h, put something over them if working in a dusty environment.
6- 6 coats of krylon base color, be gentle on the first 2-3 coats so the photo paper does not get "wet". wait 15-20 minutes between coats. (again, room temperature.)
7- Wait 24h.
8- Print your artwork with a inkjet printer on a self adhesive photo paper (got from ebay).
9- Stick the artwork, be careful!
10- 6 coats krylon clear, wait 15-20 minutes between coats. (again, room temperature.)
11- Wait 48-72h or longer if you can before reassembling, otherwise the paint will still be sticking and prone to scraches and fingerprints.

This give a very nice finish, you can see the reflections on the pictures. The krylon clear becomes really hard unlike polyheuretane and other clears. After a week of drying, you can scrach it with your nail and it wont leave a mark.
