my current setup
> ML2 >

how do you like the ML2? sound good? versatile? better than the MT2?
IMHO its better than the MT2 if used for metal, you cant use it for anything but metal haha, even when the gain knob is at 0, it still sounds strong
i have a love-hate relationship with that pedal, tried to sell it twice only to retract it a few days later hehe

I want to see if I can attach some plexi glass to the front of the pedal, and have  lettering over it, and use the same method.  This way, the letters light up.  Might be a while until I can find the time to do so though.

If you shine light into plexiglas it will only show where the surface is disrupted.. So if it's a clean flat piece, the light will come out on the sides.. however if you engrave text into the glass the text will also light up  :o

Now.. Id like to see some examples of that  :P hut hut

You think I could etch some aluminum so that the letters I want were to stand out on the aluminum, use an iron to press those letters into the plexi glass?  Would that work in getting the light to come through?
To those about to rock, we salute you.

Barcode80

i was going to try solid lettering cut into the aluminum all the way through. then jam a few LEDs inside so that when it is on the letters all light up. sheet of plexi on top for dust control.

liddokun

I'm going to try just cutting the letters into the plexiglass using a dremel.  I'll post pics here of results when I finish.
To those about to rock, we salute you.

wow idlechatterbox, I really like your work, are those the teko boxes from free trials? I really like that look; the rack gear aesthetic, as you put it.

Hi!

Wanna make a Sans Amp GT2 but dont want to deal with the 40 wires of offboard wiring ??? Here's your chance!

So, I modified the tonepad PCB so you can :

1) Solder the 3xDP3T switches right on the PCB (Get the switches here http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=495).
2) Use the PC mount pots from Smallbear (http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=692 and http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=710).

I already posted that on another thread, but the picture thread usually has more visibility. Check it out : http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=68496.0.

PM me for layout + PCB.

beautiful work bleubleu, and very neat, but definitely pleasing to the eye even in its bare state.

Modified Trotskydrive on modified Soggybag board.

Whats this!?!

Soggy has a BB sized board now!
Thats great!

Soggy's website: http://www.super-freq.com/

Oh, I see he doesn't.
I guess thats what you meant by modified (stretched?).

I have one of Soggy's board left. I think I'll do something on it from his site.
That would be appropriate.

The French connection

Wow! It's been a while...Here's an old one i've finished to paint this weekend. It's a fully modded tube screamer with 8 different clipping (Color), including diode lift, on a rotary switch. 1 Mohm drive pot, min/max gain mod and Mid/Fat caps switch. I've tried to do the finish from AMZ http://www.muzique.com/news/index.php?paged=3 but with a subtle variation...not really what i expected. So, here's the Lube Teaser...it's sounds macho i know...did'nt know what happened...my wife passed in front of me and my blood run down subittly.  ;)

Thanks to the people of this forum for the infinite source of information and inspiration!

Bonsoir!
Dan
I know, but the pedal i built does not boost...it just increases volume!

First time using clear coat and paper. Learned a lot! I used krylon acrylic clear coat (Wal-Mart), photoshop and printed at Kinkos. I have to figure out how to make all the measurements tighter!

which layout did you use?

I used the anonymousfacelesscoward layout found here:
http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/anonymousfacelesscoward/19192939.html

Slacker hooked me up with the font he used on the schematic so I could pay homage to him. The graphic is something I found online while looking for the star wars echo base.

Yes I think that will work

Noticed that Brian Wampler is using the acrylic glowing plate!
http://www.wamplerpedals.com/members/echo.htm

did the idea first come from forum members or did you guys get it from him?

~arph claims to have found the idea. Maybe this guy read the tutorial I wrote for the forum and stole the idea.
Just like some asses are stealing D's swirl techniques.

Edit: what an arse, he charges $65 for some plexi and a led  :o

Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

i wouldn't say the swirling technique was stolen, it was a gift to us (:     granted i haven't tried it yet.

as for the acrylic... well, a cool idea is a cool idea. still, that acrylic is very expensive, you are right. i've made a few for myself for much, much less than that :P

I got all my plexi for FREE! Just go to a DIY store and ask them if they have some leftover. Usually they do, and they wont charge you because it would have ended up in the trash.
Lucky for me, I work at a DIY store, so I went to the back, asked a college if he had some leftover. He said no, but I'll make some leftover.
He then took a piece of 100x50 cm, cut it in 4 and handed it to me with the words: now it's leftover. :D

The plexi lighting motif has been around for awhile. I'm sure this guy has seen it before and isn't just a pirate. But really, nothing is copyrighted here so it doesn't really matter if he did right? There have been guys using this technique to light amps for a number of years now.

earthtonesaudio

I don't think someone can have copyrights to a technique.  You can have copyrights to a specific artwork, so someone couldn't photocopy Dragonfly's swirl finish and then make pedal silkscreens out of the design, but they could make their own swirl paint job.

Techniques can be patented, but not usually if they're really simple processes or obvious applications of a given technology.
Same goes for schematics, and recipes for food.  You can copyright the text of the cookbook, but not the recipe.
*(As far as I know anyway.)
