Today's work...

Is that pedal for someone in the band The Good Life?

kurtlives

No, just the name of the song I was listening to as I finished the pedal. I always sign, date and list the song I was listening to on my pedals.

The name of the pedal is at the top, its under that whiteness.

Finished another etched build of my PURE Clean Boost. I've got this method pretty dadgum reproducible, and once I know I can do this several times in a row, I'll post my timing, steps, etc.

Well, I can't wait, and I appreciate your response.

The tools of the artist give you a chance to twist and bend the laws of nature and to cut-up and reshape the fabric of reality - John Frusciante

I love that one John!

I wonder if you did a really heavy etch the same size as the wood could you get it to recess a bit more?

deaconque

john-  where do you find such thin stock of zebrawood?  been looking for something just like that

John Lyons

The Veneer is only 1/32" or so, it doesn't stick up much.
I'm sure I could etch the box to recess the wood but you would see the etching
outer edges most likely. I just eyeball the size anyway...

I got the wood from a veneer dealer on ebay. Most Veneer dealers should have it I
would imagine though.

That is truly beautiful John.

Thanks Andy!
I see we are using the same knobs, I love em!
I really did those boxes you posted above.
Some of those are phenomenal for sure.  :o

Thanks.

Yeah, I like those knobs a lot. They're compact, but still easy to grip...plus they look nice enough to go with most any paint / deco scheme. If I was going to be continuing to build a lot I'd probably buy a ton more. Last time I bought 100, but as you are well aware, 100 knobs goes pretty quick.

Ripdivot

Hey John and Andy, where do you get those knobs?

birt

hah John we keep on having the same ideas with rust, wood... putting stuff on top of pedals instead of painting them. there is a piece of veneer in my car waiting to be put on a pedal for more than 3 months now :p

Great minds think alike ;D I like the B size box and the wood aesthetic so it just seemed "right".
The metal and wood contrasts nice as well I think.

I got the knobs from Jtron on the net (Philmore #3010)

This wouldn't happen to be "The Good Life" by Weezer would it?
