A DOD YJM308 with no guts installed yet. Knobs temporarily placed. This pedal artwork was an accident that I can say won't be happening again. Partially so because I suck at art, but also because of the manner in which it happened. At first, I thought "Oh sh!t !!!" Then it kind of grew on me. A smoking cigar to whoever guesses how it happened.

Love the finish!

There should be a Star Trek theme competition.

Ok, so nobody has guessed or even tried so I'll tell you. I use the toaster method to bake my pedals. I use aluminum foil on top of the pan that the pedals lay on while I paint them and then bake them. It keeps me from having to touch them before their baked. I just spray them and then load the pan in the oven. However, I hadn't changed the foil in a while and there was probably 15 or more coats of primer, paint, and clear on that sheet. Well, needless to say, this is what happens when there is a small fire in your toaster oven. lol. The inside of the oven was black from the smoke but the enclosure just got splattered with burnt paint and soot I guess. Lesson learned. BTW, I like the look now and the pedal sound itself. I won't be trying to recreate this in the future though.... :)

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.

I was about to say you accidentally had splatter from some paint you had laying around even though that seemed obvious but a toaster oven fire? Want to make a tutorial?  :icon_lol:

That would be something wouldn't it. Probably get sued for dozens of house fires or something.

Admittedly, you've almost put me off getting a toaster oven. I should just be thankful for the 100 degree days.  :icon_lol:

Same here, I thought it kind of looked like ash from a fire but I figured there was no way it was actually ash from a fire! Great looking build.

Thank you, and thank you again. Here is the tutorial... learn how to get lazy and not change out your foil. Wait for that random moment when black smoke pours out of your toaster oven. Don't get worried. It will be ok. You can get another house, but that finish on that enclosure is priceless. Typical cost of enclosure paint job with paint ash and splatter, $95,000 to $500,000 depending on the cost of your home and insurance, lol.
