Man; that looks awesome! I'm always obsessed with your etched enclosures. Also thanks for etching tutorial video on youtube, very helpful; It seems I'm not the only 'Dry Acid' fan on this forum :icon_mrgreen:
Life is too short for being regretful about it.

That purple perfboard and blue capacitors look good together, especially with all-blue wiring.

The outer paintwork is spectacular.

The forum automatically censors profanity doesn't it? In that case I'll just stick to

WOW!!!!!

Really killer job. While it is your first post on here I'm going to assume it's not your first build 8)

Hi everyone,
Thought I should share something I've been working on. I'm not a commercial builder - yet, but this is something I've been working on with the intent to make a small run of. Hope I'm not stepping on any toes, just proud of how it's come together and wanted to show it off.
This is a boost mostly intended for metal styles, with variable hi and low-pass filters.
Clicking the photo's will take you to a full-size page.

This is an early prototype, I've made some changes to the artwork, layout and circuit since.

þrøngva is Old Norse for "push" - as it is intended to overdrive the input of a tube amp. I've since decided to drop the Old Norse naming idea and just call a spade a shovel. Future iterations will be simply called "Metal Boost".

It's hard to capture in a photo, but notice the skulls in the black background. I had the front panels made by a PCB fab, using a combination of soldermask and copper to achieve this subtle "3D" effect. It's much more obvious in person with changes in light.

Obligatory "kinda" gut-shot. Sorry, don't have any better photos to hand.

Future versions will have rear-mount jacks, slightly different artwork and an improved circuit.

Nice builds guys!
That Germanium boost looks great too, not too sure about glorifying Stalin tho

+1.... but also, given that it's a Germainium boost, shouldn't it be Hitler Merkel (don't mean to compar the 2 at all, just nobody wants a Hitler pedal... or not many anyway.... I hope)?

Technically the pedal should be called "East Germanium Boost"

(Ba boom Tish!)

Sorry, as a cold war kid I am allowed to make these sorts of jokes, ha ha

Anyway this pedal was not screen printed, it was done using one of those fancy UV printers.....

funny you mention calling it the east germanium boost. i started calling my germanium boost that, and was about to start making a run of them.  :o

btw, seriously get looking design.

hey phoenix - that "þrøngva" looks a bit like drongo, maybe a mistranslation? and that thing shooting out the side of the box, is that a battery tray?

Hi Duck, I see you're Australian too, do you speak some Nordic language? I used a couple of references for my translation, here's one: Vikings of Bjornstad. But if you (or anyone else) has any insight into how þrøngva might translate in any modern languages, it would be appreciated.
I'm not sure if anyone outside of Australia would be familiar with the slang term "drongo", but I guess hapless fool (with a small implied endearment) would be how I would translate.
Anyway, as I mentioned, I've decided to drop that name, partly because of potential for mistranslation, partly because of the average Australian's unfamiliarity with non-English characters and their pronunciation, and also just because it's been a bit of a silly joke to half-heartedly give my creations "Viking" names. Like many Australians I'm of primarily Western European decent, Irish, Italian, German, English, but more Dutch than anything else in my case. I'm blonde, and have worn a long beard and hair the majority of my adult life and have become known for that. So friends have encouraged me to give things "Viking" names. I'm kinda bored of the joke.

Yep, that's a 9V battery box. I've been doing repairs full time for about the last 7 years, and I'd guess close to a quarter of repairs to pedals have been replacing battery snaps, and replacing the screws that have been chewed up and stripped or misplaced and everything else that goes along with it. Tool-less battery replacement was pretty important for me in this design.

Hello again guys!  :icon_mrgreen:

Here's my lastest build, the MegaBlues! Combination of two of the most amazing drives; Ibanez TubeScreamer 9 + Marshall BluesBreaker.
Going from a bright clean, passing an low saturation and arriving a badass drive.
Etched enclosure with art inspired in Mega Man and Zelda.

So... What do you think?
obs: I don't trust in who doesn't like Mega Man!

It's been a while since I posted anything here.  Had a small binge over the Christmas break and this is the first one for the new year:

It's a Blackstone OD for my tame guitarist, built to his requirements.  Quite enjoyed the process designing this one.  It's on double-decker perf: the pots are mounted on one piece (and part of the tone circuitry) and the rest on the board you see in the picture, joined by a few links along the top edge.  The indicators are a little different from the original: the central white LED shows effect on/off, and the red/blue LEDs give an always-on indication of which channel is (or will be) active.

That's a great idea using the 2 perfboards and mounting the pots on one.  Very nice build.

Thanks.  Been doing a little muff wiggling DIY on the side (I feel so cheap two-timing you guys...).  Stacked boards are all the rage over there.
