Echo Base, but before that, Skyripper sitting atop the amp head, volume pedal (string broke last night), eCHO bASE, Swiss army knife 5f2a running a 6sl7/6v6 set up...

I thought I'd bring some balance to this thread after all the awesomeness of late and show my latest pedal.

This is a Ziggy overdrive clone made mostly of left over bits of projects past.  The enclosure was from my second ever build that got gutted and forgotten (running the layout east/west wasn't a great idea).

I wouldn't normally put a shot of the insides up because they are generally a bit of a mess.  I was just happy this one fit.  No LED, I used the hole for the gain switch.

i hope it doesn't look too 'commercial' to post here now. it was a request of a friend to build.

was mostly interested to build an out-of-phase panning switch, which is what gets most play in the demo.

my friend did a demo for me the other day, but you'd need to listen in stereo: https://youtu.be/AmPAJQUgWkI

Never!  I've got to have something to aspire to Darron.  Your boxes are eye candy.

That being said,  another joe average yin build to counter all of the awesome yang on here.

This is a Rick Holt Causality 4 phaser with a 'what was I thinking' finish.  This is what happens when you have 1 idea, change your mind, then try something else only to change you mind again.  In the process of sanding it back a second time I just cleaned it up and went with a 'vintage/distressed' look because I'm impatient.

I just realised Kirk has a bit of a Hellboy thing going on   :icon_evil:.......

Few projects made this year, first are two Zendrives for friends, other one painted in automotive chameleon paint and the other with glow-in-the-dark paint.

It actually glows!

Then got to finish a Pharaoh fuzz for myself; this one painted with several layers and sanded open before applying the matte clearcoat. Tried to add some glow-in-the-dark there as well, but that paint didn't react well with the infrared curing device I was using, hence slight bubbling around the red layer  :( otherwise the paintjob came out good.

Last week I finished a Valvecaster, tried to pull it vintage-ish with cloth-covered wires and turretboards and all. Have had that walnut Hammond box lying around for years waiting for a good project, for this it really fits.

Very cool. How'd you get the LFO out of phase? Is it digital? What's the deal with the 3PDT? Redundancy?

Now the lid is closed, this also makes me happy:

It is Soulsonics Fourbanger with an added Speaker Cranker. The first two Stages (Rangemaster and crackle-free SHO) are on the first footswitch, followd by a JFET booster, the Speaker Cranker and a "clean" opamp booster. The opamp booster's position can be shiftet by the 3PDT flip switch from last position to before the JFET stage. So it can either boost the whole mess or help the JFET out.

The whole story including gutshots here:

Beautiful, in and out!
Your PCB layout is perfect! I really like that you let space for the jacks, very clever for top mounted 1590BB enclosures like this one.

If you dont mind me asking, what kind of vactrol do you use here? I have many problems sourcing vactrols nowadays, I was using Vactec VTL5C1, but they are more than 10 euros each now!

Yes I agree that this is a very nice layout. I don't really want the effect but find myself wanting the pedal because it looks so good.
Is that sad?

thanks heaps :)

wanted to avoid PCB mount jacks. i really like solid hardware and even feel a bit dirty hard wired the switches in.

the vactrol is DIY. probably about 4x larger than a commercial one though. it's made from 2x pieces of 3mm black acrylic and some heat shrink:

the LDRs are from Small Bear. they also have photocopiers in sets but i don't have experience with them. Happy to post some wrappers out though :)

mmmmmaybe. nah jk. i could help out with a box maybe? most of the stuff i build is in 1590B so if i could use my drill pattern it's not hard. i'm limited to what i can do easily with the laser and whichever colours i'm loading in for powder coating. right now i'm using a silver which can engrave black with VERY high detail around 600DPI:

Built a '73 Big Muff yesterday which was my first Big Muff build...

Etched a 1590B sized PCB using Eagle files I found (thanks gaussmarkov) then faux-created the enclosure design in the general spirit of Big Muffs. I polished the aluminum enclosure, designed and placed a waterslide decal on then coated that in Envirotex clear epoxy. I also changed all the values to fit the one here.

It was impossible to properly visually represent the enclosure with static images so I made a small video so you can see the details along with a static image of the guts.

So far it sounds great, quite happy with it on all fronts:

And the guts...

Finished this a couple weeks ago.  NPN germanium tonebender and EA tremolo.  Sounds fantastic, as long as the transistors are room temperature!!
