That's a lot of tube glow considering that you don't have LEDs in the sockets.

I'm not a tube expert but there's no way tubes are going to glow like that without LEDs under them. I'm guessing the pictures were taken at different times and LEDs were added later, yes?

Maybe you're right.  It's beaming right through the getter flashes even.  Could be a long exposure camera trick or something.  The glow does seem to originate from inside the cathodes.

Te question is: how many voltage/mA's are using??
:-)
To you, buffered bypass sucks tone.
To me, it sucks my balls.

Yep, long exposure, that's all.  No LED's.  LED's under vacuum tubes make me barf. :icon_mrgreen:

The thing draws about 350 mA, thus, no battery.  I built a linear power supply feeding 9V to the pedal.

Is much less than I expected!
How does it sound with 18 or 24 volts?

I don't have separate power rails for the heater and the plate, so I 've only ran it at 12V max (12AU7 tubes).  I couldn't tell much difference compared to 9V.

To each his own :icon_twisted:

Seriously though, for me it depends on why you do it. I like putting blue ones under them and using them as status indicators so there's one less thing to clutter the top with. Now if you're using an orange or red one to make it look like your tube is burning hotter than it is, I feel like that's barf-worthy. But blue and greens look super cool to me 8)

Those Chernobyl tubes get me every time...   ;)

Wait till you hear them :icon_eek: pretty sure high gain is what actually melted the reactor. "Chernobyl Overdrive" is kinda catchy. And here I was about to name it "Tubey McTubeface" :P

I have to admit, Tubey McTubeface does have a certain ring to it...   ;D

This one is my 2nd reverse etch and it was a gift for a friend which is a great guitar player. 2 days ago I gave him the pedal, but didn't told him it was a gift, I just said I wanted him to try it. Yesterday he messaged me saying he liked the pedal a lot and wanted to buy it from me, then I told him I made it as a gift. I'm very happy he liked the pedal this much.

I really liked those tubes. Wonder how they look with a green led. Or a pink led.

Thanks :) Fortunately I can answer one of those right now. I got super excited Friday night after work and stayed up until 3AM milling the board, populating it, testing it, and boxing the thing. But I decided to go for green LEDs on this one. I have it painted now but I'm getting ready to engrave the box so it's all taken apart :P But anyway, my new tube pedal, officially named the Chernobyl Overdrive (thanks bluebunny!) 6.3VDC regulated on the heaters, 66VDC on the plates (thanks Renegadrian!), Baxandall tonestack, and boatloads of gain 8) The board could have been WAY smaller, but I was trying to do as little offboard wiring as possible.

Rainy weekend means lots of building...

Harvey Dent is finally finished. This is straight on clone of the Schumann Two Face Fuzz.

Finished the Atomic Duck as well. Clone of the Frostwave Funk-a-Duck.

As always, many thanks to PMowdes for the great PCB's. :thumb:
