Ranko, I see that you took the easy way with this build - trimmers instead of  drain resistors..? :)

T.

rankot

Yes, and I also designed a PCB so I can use both TTH and SMD JFETs.

My version of Klon Centaur. I like it, although those suckers at UV printing shop somehow managed to print black letters over white  :icon_evil:

I probably shouldn't have done this, but I had to :P Klon Centaur using the original PCB layout with a knockoff of the original enclosure. Ge diodes are some fancy NOS unicorn hair diodes courtesy of Mark (italianguy). The biggest change I made over the original is a 2.1mm DC jack, because convenience is more important than accuracy.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I love it!!

Slade I think you got a bit of Slag(e) to the upper left of the mounting screw... You may want to flick that away!

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

Wow, good eye :icon_eek: I'll open it back up when I get home and make sure to clean that up!

Those are some funky looking diodes.  What are they?  Do you recall what they measured?

They are OLD glass GE's.. 1N34A.  I found some local surplus, then ordered a bag more of them.  I think I actually got them from Russia or Bulgaria (about 5 years ago).

They measure about .35FV really sweet in Klones.  (Plus, they look neat as hell)

Right on.  Wanna trade for some?  Ha!

(And Homer's dad has a name, you know.  It's Abe.  Abe Simpson.)

After Thermionix's inquiry.. I took a closer look at my parts drawer...

This started with some big glass diodes I got years back.  They were marked 1N34A.  I only got a few pairs.  Measuring approx .35V FV.
I looked for more, and I found some... those were marked 1N58A.

Finally I found a bigger stash out of Russia.  Those are the ones pictured in Nathan's post.  I looked at them and they are actually Russian D18's with a "8412".  These consistantly measure right at .35V FV too.

I've had great luck with these.. I don't use them unless I am wanting to give someone some mojo factor-- as they really are just cool looking.

Now, my past memory is a little more in better order.  I have so much of this stuff squirreled away.

Jubz

My first 2 finished builds. Both for my guitar player.

EQD disaster transport on perf (storyboardist layout just a bit modified)

Deadastronaut Chasm Reverb on 2 layer PCB (starting again with storyboardist layout) in 125B and oscillation footswitch. On this one I managed to fail the etch AND the drilling (and poor
knob choice for the moment). Yeah The name is cathedral reverb I poorly explained the concept of DIY cloning to my guitarist and he wanted a reverb called cathedral.

Here's a couple that I finished off yesterday.  The first is Rob's bass preamp.

And the second is the Unicorn Breath buffer, on a 1776 board.  Dunno where the buffer design hails from, but I think it rhymes with "blon"...  ;)

And now for something completely different!  (For me, at least...)  I bought a handful of tagboard and thought I'd give it a go.  This is what I came up with...

First off is a Tube Reamer (runoffgroove.com):

And next up are a Stratoblaster booster and an Electra distortion:

I, um, "borrowed" some colour toner from work (:icon_redface:),  but I'm still getting used to putting transparent colour on top of a painted background (monochrome on top of colour is much easier).  So I bought myself a colour laser printer on Friday so I can practise!    :icon_biggrin:

Anyway, quite enjoying the look and feel of the chunky components.  Might do some more.
