Some spray painting outside since it's finally warm. Elka dizzy tone, Baldwin buzzaround, 3 knob tonebender, i think anyway. First time with the Gapco enclosures.

May be on the way here. 2sb's. Price was right.

nice work!
I know! His printing work was great and pretty heavy duty. I had to send him off some box dimensions & text placing.
He did another one for me with some original art, but that's still waiting on board ideas.

internet was out for a few days, have cell data yeah but i'm cheap  ;)  tried to post this earlier, then moved my pics around and lost the link, then forgot where they were, then had to attend to the rat problem in the basement and here we are. ay...

Here's an amp I built for a vocalist I play with - XLR/TRS combo and guitar input jacks, bluetooth audio receiver, mic pre, two band EQ, digi reverb, Tiny Giant and a headphone amp. Coming out of a car speaker, sounds pretty good for what it is. Digi reverb has a little hiss but otherwise the amp is really quiet, I was shocked. There's some motorboating at loud volumes, but at that point, it's overloading the speaker, sounds bad, and there would be piercing microphone feedback anyway, it's plenty loud. Besides, this was built specifically for low level, super mellow old style pop/country/RnB rehearsals. Weighs less then 6 lbs, too. It's a long story, but the singer is supposed to avoid lifting heavy things, so being light was the first task, hence the less-than-road-worthy particle board train case and 6" speaker. The mic pre is from Rod Elliott and the EQ is based on a Doug Self example. Both are pretty much textbook though, very simple. Everything is at ±12V, LT1054, NE5532s and a belton brick, no surprises.

Cool!  Will be interested to see the final result.  What's your opinion of these enclosures?  Been a while since I checked out Gapco.

Looks like that's a little above my pay grade :icon_eek:

This was kind of a fun build, SMD clone of the Diezel VH4 for a friend.

I also bagged three of those from Gapco!

Made nice FET based fuzz with bias control in one. Sprayed it matt black and called it 'The Monolith' :) (middle left)

I think the Gapco's are pretty nice. On reverb the seller (US Gapco)wants $10 plus $13 shipping. So i emailed him for the price for 5 pieces. Was $70 for 5 including shipping, so that's $14 each, not bad. They are covered in oil/grease.  I had to use full strength purple degreaser with a scrunge pad to clean them, twice. The metallic paint came out nice and dried fast, the maroon was regular enamel and took a while to dry. Elka dizzy tone and variants in these 3 because i got 100 SFT352's out of a old organ, they are even working in a FZ1 better than a crap load of transistors i have been trying for months.

The 2SB's are 2sb54 and 2sb56.  I hope the gains (and leakages) are good for fuzz or tonebenders or something. 500 pieces of one and 800 pieces of the other. $182 shipped. I have bought some (1500) Russian trannys from a guy on a electronics forum, on another forum this guy posted he had some transistors for sale replying to my ad. I think it may be the same person, but payment went to someone else. Could just be coincidence. Anyway, i'll find out early next week how they measure.

Kind of a parts whore myself, can't help it. Don't ask me about tubes (5000-6000?more?) Been winding p90's lately so i hope my recent pedal build addiction is just a fad? lol.

Here's the russian trannys, need to test them and get a file into excel.

Other parts junk and work bench under there.

Hopefully i can find a use, last big batch of russian trannys weren't cherry picked, they pretty much matched up to their specs.

2SB54 and 2SB56 should be useful if they match their specs. I need to go in the pedal business i think.

I've had my best luck with Japanese germaniums, most I've acquired are in something.

Joncaster

Finally finished my Heartthrob Tremolo!
Toward the end I was getting a bit short on time and patience, so not my finest wiring, and just slapped some pull-downs right onto the switch.
Still a bit of initial popping, which goes away, but I think i remember that as a common issue for this circuit.
Used a 100kA speed instead of a 1M, as it gave me a way more useful range of control. And a 20ka depth, instead of 50k, cause that was plenty.
I made a good few stupid mistakes boxing this one up, more reminders not to rush, and stay focused.

Sounds awesome!
Slightly above unity gain, but not a boost or anything, just a nice buffered sound to it, very clear.
But the trem itself is just very satisfying, has a lovely quality to it, inspiring on chords.

Pictured here with its mascot, Valentino.

Knocked up a little Harmonic Percolator in this cool enclosure. Trying to figure out where to put the LED! Suggestions welcome.
