After few months fighting sciatica (and it struck me yesterday :icon_eek: again), I've finally found some time to put this beauty into the box. It is Merlin's Spark Gap, just renamed it to 2ube Screamer.

I feel ya, no pun intended. I have it in my right leg. Recently, I got a pinched nerve in my right shoulder. It's been bothering me for two months now. It's at its worst when I'm driving.

Floor-mat at the front entrance to my former place of employment. Oh... the irony.

Man, my first complete build in over a year. Populated and rocked PCB has been sitting on my bench the whole time. Interests change and life's been busy. Think I'll get some more builds going maybe.

Smallbear 125B pre-painted enclosure. Haven't used these in a while. Nice to have some of the work done for you. Especially, since I haven't used wired pots instead of board mounted pots in ages.

Cozybuilder gave me a crybaby, and now I've modded it.

used an inductor I wound some years ago, with tap switch [a bit too subtle for my hearing]. also put a cap select switch, cause nephew wants to bass wah. both toggles are mounted willy nilly under the treadle, wired with screened cable.

also visible is the footswitch height extension, a cut-top stick-on rubber bumper foot, cause those x-wings aren't wah footswitches. nice bit of tarnish on those stupid jacks.

Something new to show.

Hoof Reaper.

And.. not sure about the name for this, but let's say.. 5.
Two channels (clean and 5150, both on jfets), relay switching, fx loop, cabsim, headphones and 1.3W (or something around)  power amp.

I like your enclosure design. I think I've seen it lately on Instagram (along with other boxes).
Can you post a picture of the enclosure bottom part, the one with side screws?

And here's another one..

After much gnashing of teeth.... and 3 PCB revisions.....  I finally got this bad boy working!  Here is the 1st prototype.

After the naming ceremony "Dual Stage Rock-it" -- it's a Valvecaster 2.0 (plus) running at 12V for anyone who wasn't following.

It is pretty awesome.. It has tons of gain, and gets pretty wooley when cranked up.

I am building a 2nd prototype with some of the components socketed, so I may tweak the values some.  I want to experiment with the tube biasing a little -- and see if I can get more range out of the tone control (Pitch).

It's a bingo!

I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

Rob--

How are you getting your blacks so black?  Are you painting your enclosures after the etch?

(my etches are always a dark gray)
