For some reason, I recently watched a 2-hour long documentary on youTube about "Gorefield" - the Cthulhu/Old Gods take on Garfield the cat. So I used that as inspiration for the artwork. Etched on .033" 2oz black FR-4.

Looks insane! Could you please share the link to that documentary? I'm eager to watch!

Here is the youTube video:

I just spent some time watching this. Disturbing and weird!

Completed the Orange Squeezer.
Thanks to GGG for the circuit idea.
Can now add it to the top of the stack, (connected after the micro V)

In case you thought I'm dead or missing in action, you were wrong. Just a combination of laziness, lack of spare time and Covid depression. :( But, hey, I'm back with the new pedal!

I've started this one almost four years ago - my own design, using two 6J1 tubes (or 5654 6AK5 EF95 6Zh1P 6Ж1П). Had some problems with noise initially, then put it into the drawer and forgot it. One year ago, decided to try to fix it, redesigned PCB, soldered almost everything and then again put it into drawer, for unknown reasons. Two days ago got it into focus again, soldered missing parts (mostly pots), tried it and - voila - it worked as a charm! No noise at all, just pure overdriven tube sound.

The first stage can work as triode or pentode or anyhing in between, second is pentode mode only. Fender tone stack in between. Put status LED behind the tubes, but they seem to barely penetrate through, but I'm lazy to remove all again and put different LEDs. Also made wrong markings for GAIN and VOLUME, but, fortunately, there is a permanent marker at hand! Not beautiful, but correct.

Looks great, I dig it  8) I'm not very familiar with 5654, how do they sound? How does their triode sound compare to the pentode sound?

Thanks! Actually, the main difference is the volume (of course), but I need some more time and auditioning with my buddy who's a serious guitar player to definitely say what do I like more. What I like with this pedal is that it has HUGE ammount of volume and gain.

I also noticed some strange behavior of the tone stack, but maybe it should work that way - controls are somewhat linked, and turning MID to minimum almost cuts the sound?

Sounds about right, in a Fender tone-stack the mids control is "cut only," so it's a noticeable loss when turned down. I always leave mids cranked on anything with a Fender stack.

If your mids pot goes straight to ground, you might want to put a resistor in there to set a floor. Sometimes people mod Fenders for a "boost" by opening that ground connection, which mostly renders the tone stack ineffective, but also eliminates tone-stack loss and the mid scoop. For 79-80 Deluxe Reverbs, with the God-awful ice-pick boost based on the reverb circuit, converting that to this kind of boost is a cool mod.

I haven't posted here in ages. Made a New Years resolution to post up new builds on my favorite forums that I have been on for 10+ years.

Been on a Germanium kick lately has I have a nice stock pile of various PNPs I have gathered from estate sales here in Southern California for the past few years and thought I would catch up on some circuits I never spent much time with.

First up is a Zonk Machine with a rotary control for 3 input caps. Stock Zonk, MKI, and then a 1uf which is a little much. Took a bit of time and many different transistor combos to find the perfect match and think I hit it just right. Sounds absolutely incredible.

2nd on is a rangemaster with an input cap blend. Don't laid the layout right up  or didn't use a wide enough range of values as it never gets bright like a stock rangemaster and is definitely thicker. It's fine my me as it's almost like a fuzzy overdrive and sounds excellent with a huge volume boost.

All the mojo caps and resistors are from estate sale scores or craigslist, love these old parts. Both are acid etched and the Gozu / Rangemaster is hit with a harbor freight buffer after the etching.

Great builds, especially that Gozu etch!

Hi Guys !

I've been off for years about building StompBoxes, and each time I return to https://www.diystompboxes.com/ , I am always admirative about all the outstanding builds I see here in the Re: Picture subforum... The tidyness of the PCBs and assemblies, the class of the box finishes, paint or etched...  :o :icon_surprised: :icon_eek: 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

My last attempts...   :icon_confused:

I'm going to slowly get back to it by making some Wahs and Wah-Fuzzs to help my SMOBY "Slug" Wah-Overdrive-Distortion :

So Wait and See...  ;)

A+!

I remember the Tri-ang control panel from my big brother's model railway. Only, his was in English.
Great looking builds along with some impressive looking guitars posted elsewhere. You've been busy :D

Thanks @stallik ! I'd like to have more time to devote to such projects... Oh, OK : like most os us, by the way ! :icon_rolleyes: ;)

OCD DeLuxe version, with additional bass pot (unlabeled). I have also noticed that second stage of op amp can give more different sound if feedback resistor is converted to pot, so instead of stock 150k, there could be 51k resistor in series with A100k pot. I tested it and work fine, but I have already made the box without the space for additional pot, so this one goes without that.

DOD FX-25 - the 60th pedal I have successfully completed! Ta-dah! Sorry for not putting some pedal porn, but I forgot to make a photo before putting it into the box, and was too lazy to pull it out for shooting.  :icon_cool:

They both sound pretty incredible and are quite special.  The Zonk is just incredible and it seems to sound the best with the volume maxed out unlike most any other fuzz I have built.

Green (Pedal) Day pt. 1 - Dan Armstrong's Green Ringer (with mods).

One question - as you can see, there's a lots of flux residue on my PCB. Shall I clean it with isopropyl or not? I use some kind of locally bought solder wire without the precise compound data (origin is probably China), it says only Alloy 60/40 and Flux 2.2%.

'easydriver'' dual overdrive...

i messed around with the KOT and didnt like it, as kicking in the second drive made it thin and nasty,

so modded it so it behaves nicely...very pleased with this one..
