Hi people, something really new from my workshop: one little dual booster, so I can switch between P-MOSFET and dual JFET. Two completely different circuits, but since they were small, I thought I could put them into same enclosure.

P-MOS circuit is actually Zazen by Andy aka FancyLime: https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=119198.0 Just added bass cut switch, so it can also be treble booster.
JFET circuit is my design, using two JFETs in parallel. I tried that just for fun (and hoping to have something different). :)

My third Brassmaster build.  The enclosure surface is quite textured, so the white spots on the labels are actually just reflections.

Great build! On my To Do list, but still have 20 more pedals which are build and tested and waiting for the enclosure  :icon_neutral:

And it's really tight fit, I will put mine into 1590B at least! :D

I would have photoshopped that.   ;)

If I wasn't lazy, I would have photographed it at a different angle.   :icon_razz:  Even here, there are a few glare spots, so I gave up and went with what I shot.

My first successful PCB design and etch - a FD2 clone. I had built one years back by hacking a GGG TS9 board, but it started having issues. I wanted to reuse the enclosure, so the PCB was definitely a one-off. If I build another one, I would start over. Yes, I am aware the label is not ideal. I rebuilt it with controls in a different location than before, so I just needed a reminder so I could start using it.

So how _did_ you do that textured finish? I see from the guts photo that the box is smooth and sanded. Did you etch it after to get the texture or did you put sand in the paint or something?!?

Either way, it's a lovely looking pedal. Really nice work.

Well, I'll tell you my secret, but you might not like it.   :icon_wink:

The paint is supposed to be a smooth, high gloss metallic gold.

There was regular, smooth white primer underneath.  The hammertone texture is user error.

I can guess that it may have had something to do with the air temperature. The outside temperature was quite low when I was painting, but the enclosure was warm, and I tried to be quick getting it back into my outdoor toaster oven between coats. That, combined with how long I shook the can, how close I held the nozzle, and how thickly I applied it, means there were a lot of variables that led to the result which was a complete surprise.  I have no idea if I could repeat that texture, but I would definitely try.  I'm pleased with it myself.

Real Gold ?  Cool EBK. Nice looking work.
I'm going for Silver in my next build, lol.

Lol, that's even better! Fantastic!

The apparent magic of its creation makes it even better for me. ;)

Sometime last year I switched on the TV and just before my programme came on I caught the last five or ten minutes of Bob's show.  I'd swear on the life of Eric's cicadas that it was this ^^ exact painting.  :icon_eek:

Here is an idea that is next to impossible,
at least the first try got goober shorts in it.
Was able to salvage the board (like new if not better)
Black plastic is 2.8 mm thick.
SMD parts are 1206, kind of small. (not shown)
GGG Muff Fuzz circuit.
Laser cut tracks are 0.15 mm wide.
Filled with Silver epoxy.
Tracks show continuity.
Will give it another try in experimental mode ie no top sheet.
Anyway the pictures show the idea, good, bad, or indifferent.

It works !
Smd's attached in my odd unorthodox way.
Needs a little clean up.
Sounds like a Muff Fuzz, running 12v the ebc v's look good.
Have a few mods (if I make another) like making the connection pads bigger.
Just might box it.
Any comments or observations ?

You know I like unconventional stuff.  This makes me smile out loud.  :icon_cool: I can't wait to see what's next.

Wonder what the smallest pots would be... Jacks could be 3.5mm with an adapter maybe?
Then you might have a shot at the "smallest FX pedal ever" title?

Well, super tiny SMD trimpots exist.
