I decided to build a Shin Ei Companion for my first project (being a JAMC fan and all).

I'm just learning about debugging and all that, but after realizing that I'd reversed a few wires it works perfectly.  I love it.

I thought I'd post a pic of the enclosure I'm currently making for it.  Felt like doing some Kanji/Katakana...

Thanks, man.  I appreciate the compliment.  I was a little surprised that it came out so well.  The paint markers fascinate me, but I was scared of bleeding...

Right now this is sort of a side hobby to clear my mind when I come home from being swamped at work or to relieve the pain of wedding planning.  If I can get past some of this in the next few months, then I might consider something like that.

Here's my Way Huge Red Llama clone built off of this layout (I did mine on perf though)

And my "Trogdorian Fuzz" (One Knob Fat Fuzz).

I used clear printable window decals for the labels. Couple of things I learned about them.
#1 These don't work as well with darker colors.
#2 Make sure the blacks in the images are really black (that's why you can't see the llama as well)

God Bless,
JFTL

I love the Trogdor! Looks exactly like the genuine one. And the paper too. You've thought of everything! :D

How exactly did you do this?  It looks like you sprayed an undercoat, and then used paint markers on top, but when I've tried that I always have a problem with the paint marker dissorving the undercoat and smearing it around.

Well.. I really didn't have a problem with bleeding or dissolving.  I'll go thru it step by step with materials and see if there's any key to it, since it was essentially my first try.

I used rustoleum in the blue sparkle to get the base, then added the recommended "Crystal Clear" clear coat on top.  Then I applied my markers, which were decocolor paint markers from Michaels.  Then sprayed with a dusting of the clear again, and then a thicker coat.  My only problem was that my purple kanji characters faded under the clearcoat, so I had to retouch after that.  But no... no dissolving happened at all.

I put the guts inside last night.  Keep in mind that the goal is Super Happy Fun Time Go!

My second project (i'll make samples and a 'build report' post soon).
I made some ugly mess with painting and masking tape...  :(

PS: This Overdrive is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C, i love it. Thanks Doug.

MarkM, that font looks familiar.  Is it from the Adobe library?  Your pedals started out great looking and just keep getting better.

Very good Dave! Give that man a Cigar!!
You are very sharp with the fonts.... :D
Yes, it's right out of photoshop "Papyrus". Although, I did alter it a little bit to try and doctor it up some.
Maybe not enough since you picked it out so quick....... :icon_neutral:
Thanks for the kudos.

Is there a reason behind the thin traces?
Looks a bit fragile to me... while the rest of the pedal looks very solidly build.  :)
It's supposed to sound that way.

Thanks for your comment.
I guess I could use wider traces, but I don't think it would improve the reliability any further.
In fact, I'm quite sure there would be no continuity issues with traces twice or even four times thinner.
