my clipping rig...smaller than a stamp...and looking quite like a duck...

And what do you use Clippy-the-duck for?

So thats LEDs, Diodes, and MosFET, right?

Is there a toggle switch at the other end of the leads?

BTW, Super nice work on the APC etch.
I like the red fill with silver top and the black sides too.

Yes, it will be used for switchable clipping... I like the sound of the mosfet clipping... its the first time I've tried it.

My buddy wanted his APC Red with a red LED... and even though the etch wasn't perfect, its my favorite of the bunch

Yes, the RED one is very cool.  8)

Finally my Honey ;)

That's tops!!! What design is it? As in, what effect is it modelled off?

kfant

I'd guess a Big Muff Pi, the knobs could be volume, tone and sustain.

A bad pic of some of my builds...

What kind of enclosure is the big one?  It looks kinda old-school; I like it.

Lol! It is old school... That's a steel top aluminum side Rat Shack enclosure I bought sometime in the 1980s and forgot about... I ran across it while cleaning out some junk in the garage about 2 years ago, and built a GGG BaaBaa  to stick in it. It's about 4 inches tall! I wouldn't get an enclosure that tall nowdays...

I think this is the exact same enclosure:
Edit: no it ain't, mine's bigger in every dimension! oops! but anyway...

http://www.circuitspecialists.com/prod.itml/icOid/3523

But they have more sane sized enclosures of the same type:

I have this one now that I'm going to stuff with 3 seperate effects... I'm currently populating a Brassmaster PCB for one, and I'm undecided on the other 2 effects for now:

Yeah, those ARE cool enclosures!
I am not responsible for your imagination.

Yes, not too bad a box, funky screws but lightweight and ez to drill!!1
I cut the top/bottom in half, so that the total box height is dropped to about about 1.5'' - 2''.

Yes this is big muff.
as kfant says, the knobs are volume, tone and sustain.
I make it for a friend last weekend. ;)

Yeah, it looks very cool  :icon_cool:

I love this mini-drill I got for $6.99 while on holidays at an outdoor flea market this past summer.
It has made working PCB and moding B*SS pcbs so easy. And it came with bits in the handle!

When I find an un-drilled pad on a board, or a pad thats too small for a component,
I can drill it right at the bench without the hassle of the drill press, or dremel.
It also has a scribe bit that is very hard steel. Slices through copper traces.

It has become one of my top five important tools.

I wish I had gotten two.
On the handle it says "Commando Made in USA".
The flea market booth sold scarves, sunglasses, jewelers screwdrivers and these mini-drills (to fix yer' glasses I guess).
Strange combination.

Hey Steve at Small Bear Elec: This would be an awesome tool to add to your catalog.
It could easily drill out a fuzz or booster PCB or something with few pads, plus it great for moding boards.

I found it at an Amazon site for $13.99. Still a bargain IMO.

Hey!
I have one of those too!  :)
Actually TWO.

KerryF

how does it work?  Do you just manually spin it?  Looks very helpful.

Finally made it work!

Congratulations!  :icon_biggrin:  Eddie would be proud!

I totally love the separate switch board and how you also got the LED on there too. Great!

That build gets you bragging rights and deserves it's own build report thread.
Tell us more outside of the pictures thread. The DIY history archive demands it!

Cliff Schecht

I've been hard at work myself, I've completed 4 builds in the past 3 days and also elevated my pedalboard off the ground with sides and a bottom, which allowed me to hide all of the power cords beneath the top piece. It looks so much cleaner now. I built a flanger, a stock Orange Squeezer, a TS808 with some very nice sounding mods (thanks Marty!) and a Crank (thanks MC Hammer :P).

I actually have a question about the TS808, I figure I could ask it here instead of starting a new thread. I used a 1uF tantalum instead of the 10uF electro because I figure anything over 1uF isn't going to affect the bass response. Would it help/hurt to use a 1uF poly instead (I only have big brick sized 1uF poly caps which I have to rip the legs off and solder on stronger leads to get a good fit on most boards, but they sound quite nice).

Here's a pic of the TS and the Crank, I finished both today and they both worked on the first try. Is that a first?  ;D

These are both going in the same box.

Just throught I would post the pictures of my newly completed Ernie Ball Volume pedal clone. There's more info on its construction in:

Interesting.
Where'd ya get the housing?

Cliff, you should start a new thread. I have questions for you and your build that could drag on for several posts.
We need to know what TS schem varient your using. I just finished one but it dosen't look like yours.
Also is the 10uf referenced on the schem? I guess theres only one eh?
How about a closer shot of the TS. I can't see a tant on there. I do see a big electro that I would guess is 10uf.

Go ahead, start yet another TS thread. I'll be there.
