So many folks mount their external power jacks on the side.  I suspect this is to make good use of the (otherwise) unused space beside the stompswitch, as in the above example.  My own inclinations are to stick an adaptor jack along the rear skirt.  I just don't "get" the side-mounting thing.  Apparently Boss and many other manufacturers don't either.

So I'm wondering, do people find the side-mounting works out well for them, or is it simply a small nuisance, compared to the larger logistical problem of finding space for a rear-mounted jack and circuit board?
i mount on the side because the 1/4 jacks i like to use won't cram in the back with the power jack, and to me it is much more important to have the cables back there than the power. a power plug is much easier to cram around :)

ok now it's really finished  ;D

Oh man, that picture is throwing me!  :icon_lol:  I use knobs that style, but they're much smaller.  So your pedal looks like it is built into a "miniature" 1590BB-shaped box.  It's like seeing a zoot suit on a 4 year-old.

Here are a couple of new build and some mods:
[...]
On the left is a Colorsound Jumbo Tone Bender clone built on the Tonepad Big Muff board.

Are you using it on Bass (i remeber seeing those pics on TalkBass.com) ?
If so, did you used the stock values for all components as in Fuzzcentral schematic, or did you change somethig to adapt it to bass (bigger coupling caps, etc..)?

simply a pair of scissors

Plastic shafts then??  ;D

I use the metal shaft pots and have a junior hacksaw and little bench vice for the aluminium pot shats, gets through them in seconds...

Did you use a stencil/drew it out before you went over it with a pen.

I'm looking to do something similar. What pens did you use (which brand)? Some of the ones I've tried don't look as good as that.

i used an Elmers Pen....

its a good idea to practice with them quite a bit before you try using them on a stompbox....

That looks great. I got some Sharpie paint pens and I've given up on them because I can't get the white to be opaque.

I'll have to track down some of these Elmers pens.

Ive had good luck with them...you can shoot clear enamel over them as well.
