Basically a series of chemical reactions....the whole pedal was a pretty black finish before i started torturing it.....it gets treated, scraped, treated, scraped, wiped...ive dona a few of them in the past...total PITA, but they look kinda cool.....the whole process involves enamel paint, laquer thinner, water, luck, and a big mess....among other things

Here is my Fuzzjade. Sort of the same vibe.
I love this circuit!  I wish I would have built one years ago. It can do FF, BMP, or buzzy 60's if you use the starve/mud pot and the tone control. I tried a couple of those high voltage ceramics that skreddy mentioned in another thread.
