And an other Ruby finished! It was my first build after moving to New Zealand.
(Had all my pedal building stuff in storage for a year)
It's a Bassman modded Ruby with Gain, Volume and a Headphone output.
Still working on it as it sounds a bit "muddy".
It was a pain to get it all shoe horned in there, but very satisfying to pull it off!
I also utilized the switching to power on if you plug in the instrument and
speaker disconnects when the headphone's inserted

Gutshots: (it's really tight!)

The Iron Chef

This is the Noisy Cricket that I built for my son. I have since installed nice grill cloth from MOJOTONE. The combo has a nice Jensen MOD 8" speaker. He likes it.

I build stuff everyday.

Barcode80

my latest build, another KOT clone. Guts:

little messy in the switch area because i i've gone through 5 millenniums and can't all of a sudden make them work. tried my own board (which has worked many times before) tried the vero layout in the gallery, nothing. my be a switch wiring problem i guess. i gave in and ordered 2 3pdt switches just to get the thing going. sounds AMAZING though.

try using a 1k gain pot instead of 5k
might work for the muddy ness

yeah, the feel on the gain pot isn't great either, had no smaller value :^)... and I will replace it later on.
I also thought it might be the cap from the buffer stage output to the 386 input. It's .47uF on the standard Ruby
and 1.0uF on the Bassman version. Might be better with the standard value.

Never imagined it would be so loud through my Fender Deluxe Reverb Speaker.

It's supposed to sound that way.

Timebutt

A Tonebender Mk. II Professional I built a week ago.
Uses selected AC128's from Banzai, very pleased with the end result!
First build that I got my clearcoat to look slick :)

Will be selling this one to raise cash to build another two of these, very fun builds :)
Completed Projects: Gus Smalley Booster, Modded Russian Big Muff, Orange Squeezer, BYOC Vibrato, Phase 90

Why did you use a metal plate on top of the box?

birt

that's not metal. it's dance vinyl.

ummm actually, the ruby input cap (and rc filter cap too) are .047uf, and the bass man mod is 0.1uf
if you used a .47uf (which is higher than both the stock and bassman mod values) that will probably explain the muddiness

Ummm, my bad... yeah I've used 0.1uF not 1uF.
I've been playing with it last night and decided not to change it as it sounds absolutely amazing through the headphones!
Weird huh? I've only heard complaints about the headphone sound but this one is Big, fat and lush with good sustain.
It still sounds a little muddy through my 65 Deluxe Reverb's 12" Jensen but I'm afraid fixing that will alter the headphone
tone as well.
It's supposed to sound that way.

that's the stuff on the floor in theatres and other stages where actors and dancers perform. i'm a theatre technician so i have some leftover pieces (it's expensive material). i used carpet tape to stick it to the pedal but it's not that good. if i use it again i need some other kind of adhesive.

My first attempt at waterslide decal - I posted an image of this Valvecaster before - now it has the decal!

I'm really pleased with how it turned out! waterslide was easier than I thought it would be. You can't really see it in the photos but the green lettering has an oscilloscope background - just like my Frequency Central logo. My friends started calling me 'Doctor Analogue' when I started building my modular synth!

I also just applied the decal to my newly built MXR Distortion+, I have to wait 24 hours for the spray varnish to dry before I can fit the guts inside the enclosure - I hate waiting! I will post photos of how that turned out tomorrow.

A big thank you to everyone on this forum - it's an inspiring thing to be part of - and I am learning so much. This is just the start, now I have waterslide cracked I can get really creative with my finishes.
