I've started using flat cable for pots, and that's what you're seeing.

That was the best solution for the space inside. The final version will have it further of center, though.

interesting position for the dc jack Maury

Slightly modified CattleProd booster circuit. Thanks go to Mojotron for advice on the clear-coat  :icon_razz:

I just built the prototype of my metalcore distortion box, TUA™ (Total, Utter Annihilation). It's based off the Dual Rectifier circuit, and I've seasoned it to taste. AND...I got it all to fit into a 1290NS! I can't WAIT to record some samples of this monster. I mis-measured some of the hookup wire, so try and ignore the extra cable length -- and the snafu with the LED. Again, this is the first one, so I wasn't too worried about making it pretty. Anyway, the shell isn't painted, obviously, but here it is nonetheless:

Impressive build, really clean, very compact. My compliments!

If I can give you some feedback: I'd never want the dc-jack at the front. To risky to step on it when tapping the footswitch. I understand why you put it there...there's no room anywhere else, is there?

looks like if you left a little more lead length on those two electrolytic caps and the ceramic cap on the far left of the board, you could bend them out of the way and put the DC jack in the top left back there..?

What's the monkey do?
That's an output for an expression pedal to controll the speed.

You squeezed it into a 1590A - you insane fool!  :icon_mrgreen:

Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

No, it won't fit anywhere else. I should have snapped a top shot, then you could see the lack of space even better. I may end up putting the power on-board, even though I hate the aesthetic idea of not having a nut on the outside of the shell.

There's not enough vertical room there, either. :(

well, from the pictures it seems you could obtain a little more space pushing the board to one side... it should fit! then maybe consider smaller DC jacks, like boss style ones... Your build is spectacular, but I think the DC plug in front is quite annoying...

last idea... you could decrease the internal hindrance of the jack by increasing its external hindrance! :) using some washers you could reduce the amount of jack inside the box.... I know, it's not really clear... I hope the diagram helps...

The issue with vertical space also includes the pots -- which I can't move. The jacks I currently use won't float above the pots, thanks to the jack washer. As for other jack styles, I don't like the kind that "float" inside the shell (like ZVEX, etc.). I like to be able to fasten the jack onto the enclosure internally or externally. What I'd like to use would be...

1. A really small 2.1mm jack with a nut on the outside of the shell.
2. A jack with solder lugs, not PC mount.
3. A jack that's insulated.

Hi,
Because you don't need a switching jack you can get away with a much smaller jack. The jack in the middle of the group is  non-switching (two contacts), takes a 2.5mm plug and is isolated from the chassis. I think I got mine from Mouser.

It needs to be the standard 2.1mm, not 2.5mm.

The best thing I can find are there:

It looks like I'll have to insulate them, though. =/

Nice pedal - the second mp3 is really cool with that slow and fast phase effect at the same time.

Hello,
They might be available in 2.1 as well, I needed the 2.5's so stopped looking when I found them (only recently discovered there was a standard and of course i wasn't complying).

Maybe these.  http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/KC-300372.pdf

Take care

Would you mind sharing a source for the flat cable?  I've scoured all the regular places for a 3 (or more) conductor ribbon at a decent size (larger then 28 - 32awg) and havn't had any luck at all.

I looked at those, too, but according to the spec sheet, those are actually longer than the ones I've been using.  :icon_sad:
