Getting closer to finishing my PepperShredder...last time I posted this project all I had were the working and tested guts...now I've gotten them stuffed into a box...it's starting to come together  :icon_biggrin:

I really need to learn to etch my own boards...this perf board thing while effective...not real pretty. Hope I never have to fix it  :icon_wink:

Plenty of space left for a power supply and regulator don't you think?  :icon_mrgreen: Now...what to do about finishing the exterior? Great hobby, great fun, learn a little on the way and this thing really does sound great!

A semi unique pedal, actually two pedals in one. A tweaked Lovepedal COT50 and a tweaked Electra. Both are boost pedals the Electra can do light to medium overdrive tones though.

The toggle switch in the middle selects between the two circuits. When in Electra mode the LED turns red, when in COT50 mode the LED becomes green. The footswitch is master bypass.

The "Girth" switch is a 3 way toggle switch that voices the Electra. Top mode adds clipping diodes to the circuit, pretty compressed with lots of nice smooth drive.

Bottom mode takes a away the diodes and adds a bypass cap to the emitter. The result is a clear sound, with nice highs all the while the gain and overall output is increased. Kinda crunchy.

The middle mode gets rid of the diodes and bypass cap. This gives more output than the clipping mode but less output then the bypass cap mod. The mode makes the Electra into a clean boost, not much dirt. The sound is very fat sounding and clear, I like it.

My Univibe Plus done from JC Maillet's schemo.

This was also my first attempt at etching a box.  I decided that the roughed up black paint on the sides looked good. It gives it an old look.

Wow! dig the finish on both of those boxes. The pale yellow is really retro looking...how did you do that? Really neat looking inside too. The etched univibe box looks a bit industrial like that a lot! Is that hard to do?

Hi Steph
Really nice pedal, the type of enclosure you have chosen is spot on for that kind off effect. the rounded edges and averall look gives it a cool 50:s vintage look.
To etch your own PCB:s is really easy, you need
- a fluorescent lamp that emits UV-light
- somewhere you can print out the PCB transfer on transparent (over head) film
- cupper laminate with fotoresist on.
- Chemicals to develop and etch with you by where you by your components.
- Paitions

looks very cool...  i did the exact same thing for a tremolo once (:

just realized that you did the in/out backwards to convention. any particular reason for that?

Good eye!  When I first started building pedals I made that mistake on my first one and just decided that since I have very few (currently 1, my wah) store bought pedals, that this was fine for my setup!

Hi, Really impressive. Looks awesome. Does it sound as good as it looks?? Samples??
An impressive collection of big E-lyte caps. Are they for the MAX1044 voltage booster, is the IC a Max1044 as I guess?? If so and I'm guessing here again,  you have boosted the plate voltage 6 times witch would result in about theoretically 72 ant in practice around 68-70V if its loaded with 12V Correct???

Thanks Anders. Sounds good to my ears! I will get some soundclips together soon. You are correct on all your assumptions re the MAX generating ~70 volts. Full details here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=73222.0

Yes, you built it! I assume this is the final version? Perfboard? I was messing around with a vero/PTP layout but I didn't get to far...

Yeah, this is the version 2 schematic using a 6111 preamp. It's on perf. Personally I can't stand vero - far too limiting.

Since we're talking about amplifiers, here's one I finished recently. Not the most elegant design, just a Real McTube II (with C7 on a switch) into a TDA2005 for 20W, but it gets the job done.

Black Jack because it's black and the metal bits are from a bottle of Jack Daniel's No.7. There are some more pics in the Flickr set.
