That RAT came out great; excellent job on the design and execution

Awesome work, everyone!
Now I can finally contribute something myself.

My newest creation:  the SCRAT

It is - of course - yet another RAT clone.. I'd say somewhere between Beavis' FKR and the BYOC Mouse. The graphics were done in Visio, then printed on white label paper and clearcoated with about 6 layers (matte lacquer). I tried to match the font for the name of the pedal to the original. Hope I don't get sued by the Ice Age copyrught holders  ;D

For the electronics, I used one of forum member Soggybag's nice PCBs that have the stomp switch as well as the I/O and power jacks directly on the board. It was quite comfortable to work with this template. More info here: http://www.super-freq.com/?page_id=2

I compared it to an original RAT, and I must say my stompbox definitively captures the "essence" of the RAT's sound while offering a lot more options (which one might need or not need  ;) )

We have the same idea about the name of this project!!! Good job man!!!

Grate job. Carry on..
The only bad sounding stomp box is an unbuilt stomp box. ;-)

sorry for the photos, phone cam!
anyway, a 2 in 1 dirt combo pedal!  ;D

where do you get those knobs? I've seen 'em on several peoples' effects, but I can't seem to find them anywhere...maybe it's because the pics of knobs at most of the dealers I frequent are taken from stupid angles and I'm just missing it...

This my new RAT also a twin RAT. Used the tonepad's schem. Also moded with Ruetz Mod (Extand) ,12 stage Clipping Section (3-6-9-12) and saturation.

Hey, is that the YEAR OF THE RAT?! (is there a pedal called this way?! No link to that...) Hell yeah, nice pedals here...Those definitely put mine into the shame zone... :icon_redface:
I posted mine here. http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=36392.msg633877#msg633877

PS RATs are great...even better with LED clipping...
Done an' workin'=Too many to mention - Tube addict!

Baziiil

I've used these diodes for clipping section

CHANNEL #1: 1N 4148, 1N 914, 1N 60, 5.1V ZENER, AA132 1N 34A OA95 1N 4001 1N 5817 RED LED INFRARED LED

CHANNEL #2: 1N 4148 1N 914 1N 60 5.1V ZENER AA132 1N 34A OA95 1N 4001 1N 5818 1N 270 YELLOW LED

4148's and no clipping is best for me. 4148 smells like SRV and noncliped are like Scofield.

I don't have a picture, because I finished it and immediately delivered it, but I built a fuzz for a guy on craigslist in trade for a nice strat pickup and he was nice enough to post a demo on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzsG8IUoFko

It's a fuzz face with rather high gain transistors (bc107 @ 300ish and a 2n5088 at 350ish)--I had to do some serious oscillation filtering (about 102pF across the C and B of Q2, 62 pF from input to ground), but it got me what I was looking for--the guy wanted a raunchy fuzz to do some Black Keys-ish kind of stuff, so I added a 1M pot in series with a 33k feedback resistor as a Gate control. I dropped the fuzz pot for a fixed 1k resistor in parallel with a 33uF cap, and the output cap is a .22uf.

cool fuzz jacobyjd. it reminds me a bit the wooly mammoth sound-wise

and now my first humble contribution to this great topic

Here's my burst box or formely known as ''the circuit box with a burst button''. I've made it accordingly with the schem of MikeH (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=76932.msg632630#msg632630). The only mod i've made are adding a burst pot to control...well you know, the amount of burst. ::) The artwork was a generous gift from my daughter. I've reel my own coil an use a phosphate coated nail for the mojo and because it sound warmer to my ears. Once you push that burst button...it's really transparent! ;)

Thanks Foo123! Keep bursting!

Dan

P.S. Sorry, i've got a lot of spare time at the St-Jean Baptiste (National Holiday of Quebec)...around 5 minutes!

You're hilarious man...

What is that black goop you used on your board to keep the wires in? I just rehoused a PB&J and used calk to hold the wires in it was ok but there is better stuff out there. I know you use use hot glue but I would rather not.
Class A booster , Dod 250 , Jfet booster, Optical Tremolo, Little Gem 2,  mosfet boost, Super fuzz , ESP stand alone spring reverb red Llama omni-drive , splitter blender ,

NEVER use gorilla glue for guitar repairs! It's Titebond , Elmers, or Superglue

Of all the burst box-related posts, this is one of the funniest things I've seen. Nice job, Dan!

P.S. Does anyoene want a T-shirt dedicated to the ''THREAD'' of the year?
I know, but the pedal i built does not boost...it just increases volume!
