i don't think it's new, just a lot of us older builders are going to it. If you screw up an etch, you haven't bombed a whole enclosure. PCB blanks are dirt cheap, so it's a good cost effective way to letter.

Looks Awesome. I agree about the Nylon washer thing, though. for some reason, I hate the way they look.  a friend painted his and it looked way better.  since the polished box looks so classy, the thin al washers would make it look like a classic. just my opinion, though. beautiful work!

What do you mean by "fit a BB enclosure?" They all fit, you jsut cut them to size...

Take the other 2% and ditch the nylon washer Ron.
A thin metal washer and your pedal will look 100%.

Thanks. This is a Hero / Electric Guru combination pedal. The Guru is a Si treble booster, very much an unclean boost along the lines of Brian May's old pedal. Gritty and bitey with jumper selected input caps to personalize. When I started playing with this circuit I was getting sounds that reminded me of the old T-Rex albums so that's where the name came from, "Metal Guru" just confused people. The Hero is a simple OD along the lines of a Dist+ or Ross OD or 250, but very neutral voiced with jumper selected clipping. The default is asymmetric. No jumpers in this one since I know how I like it. The two work and play together so nicely that I've been doing duals since I first tried them together.

I've been building these for people for years, but my own pedalboard was full of crude prototypes. I finally built myself a nice one. Y'know like other people get. Serious "cobbler's children" scenario until now. The housing is a Pedal Enclosures that I polished. There's a bit of veining that doesn't show in this photo, but it's mild and adds character.

The boards are done in EAGLE and the photo flash cut through the blue solder mask to show the traces. I am very much converted to the Cliff USA 3PDT PCB mount switch. So much faster and surer to do a layout and make a board than to wire the solder lugs.

yeah they are very nice..and the wegde ones...cool .you guys in the west are lucky to have such nice products..
in the uk, we have just eddystone stuff!..

4 knob rat with switchable bass input cap.
I swear the guts seem alot cleaner than they look.
In honor of everybody hating on the white washers I went to the hardware store and got some BEEFY washers and BEEFY nuts.
I also found some REALLY awesome looking surplus washers for carling switches that are brass rectangles that say RUN START MURPHY TULSA on them and they have the little tab to center on a 3pdt. I can't wait to figure out a cool pedal to put them on.

Looks great Mike. I noticed that you didn't go with putting clipping LEDs for the eyes. I have seen it done before but I have never seen if it LOOKS cool when the pedal is used.
