Thanks its a GT404..it was pretty much a drop in replacement for the usual KT312

Ah, right! GT404 is NPN (I always get 402 & 404's mixed up), however it is a germanium transistor where KT312's are silicon. No reason a germanium shouldn't sound good in this circuit, though!

The wiring isn't as neat as I would like it to be, you know... not a Mr. Lyons wiring, but it's very functional and doesn't cause any noise at all.

Yup exactly, it sounds pretty good. I also have some other Russian ones I picked up a long time ago that I'm going to try and work something out with.

this isn't even a pedal it's a channel switcher for a mesa boogie. stop is the clean channel, hammer time is the dirty channel. the hammer time led is a rainbow oscillating led. the knob is a 10k pot that controls the 9v supply to the leds which slows the oscillation and lowers the brightness of the leds. hopefully it will only be run at TOO legit settings.
