I'm building this overdrive as a gift for Ian Bairnson, one of the best session players in Europe and mostly known by his work in The Alan Parsons Project.

It is basically a BluesBreaker using -more or less- MarkM's layout on perfboard, and a Rat , usin Gaussmarkov's layout adapted for perfboard. The additional switches are the usual ones for different clipping and input caps.

I have children at home so no chemicals. The top layer is a laminated photo paper print. It is held in place by the pots and switches. The box is a 1590C if I'm not wrong

Oh dude I LOVE that.  I loooooove it!  Great look w/ the white knobs, layout, graphic...  Just looks like it's begging to be played!  Well done.  How does it sound?  Great idea on the photo print.  Couldnt you also do just a shot of spray adhesive on the back too?  Wouldn't be any worse than the glue I'm sure your kids use.   :D

Or just use self adhesive paper. That's what i use, i have self adhesive photo paper and self adhesive transparent paper, from staples. Laminating it will add durability and prevent the colors from fading.

Madbean, are you making Pearl Octave pedals now?

I would totally buy one from you! :D

Hi azrael, thanks but I actually don't make any pedals for sale. But, once I get some minor issues ironed out there will be a PCB for it at a very reasonable price. I don't usually plug myself here, but I know that there have been a number of DIYSB members that have been wanting to build this, so hopefully it's okay to mention that.
Oh yes, I meant PCBs, of course. Looking forward to it!

The purple silk screen mask looks so cool.

John, how did you get the bullet casings to stay over the hardware? I have a bunch of them and I've wanting to do something like this for a while.

Epoxy or JB weld will work fine.

Here's my latest. Diamond back rattler skin. .45 shell knobs and switch cap.

Nice to see the primers are all dented. Makes hitting the footswitch a lot safer.   :icon_eek:

And banging and grinding them down to get them to fit on the pot shafts and switch

Haha, I'd best make sure the pedal is finalized before I put them on, then! haha

I have had some success using epoxy to mold a receptacle for a D-shaft on some gears I had around (for a wah mechanism)

Basically I wrapped some paper around the D-shaft and creased the corners, then took it off, bent the size a tiny bit smaller and taped it shut. Stuck it in the center of the plastic gear and filled the perimeter with epoxy. Hard to get aligned right but it gives a really snug fit.

MXR CAE MC-401 Booster with added Booster/Buffer-Switch.
Circuit is a bit different as well:
-integrated voltage doubler
-R.G. Keen´s Millenium 2 Bypass with input signal shunt to ground
-second half of opamp is used to provide Vref, better filtering

Looks nice! Interesting horizontal line texture in the paint.
Doubled up switch nuts looks neat as well.
Unique.

Thx!

That "etched plate" is an ear-ring, I paid 1€ for a pair.
The "texture in the paint" wasn´t planned, I just was too lazy to apply a second coat of laquer.
The double switch nut wasn´t planned as well, I just found out that the one son top had the wrong thread.

:D

Pure art, roseblood, that looks great.

Stupid question:  Is that a Brassmaster?  My other guitarist wants me to build him one.  I'd love any layout/schem you used.  :)  Pretty please?
