Very nice. Is that an opto-coupler? If so, why?

I'm guessing bridge rectifier. Perhaps just so that the pedal can except any type of power supply, any orientation.

excellent build, where did you get that dc jack?

Looks great Dave.

My guess is polarity protection.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

The little hexdip package is just a Mosfet for polarity protection, a  IRFD9024, one of the devices suggested in this geofex article.  http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/mosswitch/mosswitch.htm

The power jacks are Mode 31-134M-0 that i can get in our only little local mom/pop electronics store. In Canada i know you can order them from Electrosonic. I've seen links in other threads around here for suppliers in i think, the US and Europe .

Take care!

Well, its not anything super special, but it IS my 1st ever funtional build.  Have been putting off putting it in an enclosure, but my buddy came over and loved it so I am in the process of building him one, and designing an enclosure for him.  This is just your basic Magnus Modulus, and we have aptly named it:

The Cardboard Gigmaster 5000

Guts lol

My buddy wants to find a way to print this on all sides of his enclosure, cause he is in love with it.  It works better than I thought it would, but sometimes you have to tap the cardboard for it to find the signal again.  Can't wait to play on my buddies, as he was kind enough to give me $ in advance so I could order his pedal and not have to wait to afford another one out of my pocket.  Anywhoo, here is a little preview of the layout I have made up for his.  He gets the extra rate knob, as well as a 4 stomp switches.  We are putting it in a DD box, so hopefully it turns out cool.  We are still in the discussion stages of how to actually color the decal, but here is our layout without LED's, because I have not received the bezels yet to measure.

My photoshop is giving me issues (running in linux  :icon_razz: ) so here is a screenshot

I have a version without the borders that we may silkscreen on, or we may fill it all in and do the lettering in white.  Who knows.  Hope to have it done within a few weeks!

unable to find these exact ones, but i found this, for $2.11 at digikey.  there are other ones, but they were more expensive.  this is awesome news for these tiny enclusures. :D

EDIT: and from mouser, a 2-conductor version for $1.75 and a 3-conductor version for $2.50.  I'M SO HAPPY. :P

They are available at Sayal in Burlington and at A-1 Electronics in Toronto.  Sayal is a generalized electronics store whereas A-1 carries some new stuff (including tubes) but is largely a surplus store with a huge collection of usable stuff.

In Hamilton, Nutech on Parkdale Ave. carry them for around $2, they sometimes even have 1590A's in stock.

ocd clon

Dude! I wanted to clone one of these really bad! I went through a really intense process doing it but in the end my layout was wrong and its just been a rotting case of knobs since. What schematic did you use? Do you have a layout for it?

Renegadrian

I successfully built some using torchy's vero layout
Done an' workin'=Too many to mention - Tube addict!
