I just ordered some of the ones that have a taller bezel and less of the switch end pokes out. Which ones are you using?

if you figure it out, please start a thread or PM me. everyone is selling the same $1 switches and mouser has $15 switches. I need to do something in between. I seriously worry about pedals coming back from this.

Good idea about the thread. I try to avoid toggles on any builds but it may make sense to buy mil-spec for any commercial builds and charge more...

so here is the "either-or" of a reasonable size (passive AB box, enclosure unpainted and hand-engraved)


and an LPB-1 clone (made out of recycled transistor and capacitors from an old phone), enclosure polished with a metal brush mounted on a drill

@Frances Rhodes  : it's and engraving +++ very interesting as I am competely unable to paint or decal... How do you do it ? Dremel ? Skillfull hand, for sure ! And as discrete as nice, too...

I would have done that too on my ABY box if knew it was decently possible to achieve it as you do - But instead I continued in my "Plate & Logo Madness" :





This ABY Box has audio switching contacts paralleled, so it is usable to switch input signals (guitar to amps) or output signal (amp to cabs). The battery is only here for the leds, and wehen you remove the IN jack, the DC shuts off, like on classic pedal.

since i have had lots of problems with stripe-board, i kinda lost motivation lately, but hopefully i'll come up with new working stuff soon! and also be careful with pics sizes!!

thanks, i have to say you did a nice job too!! mais comme on est français tous les 2, je poursuis dans notre chère et belle langue
donc oui, gravé à la dremel après avoir écrit/dessiné au crayon à papier sur la boîte, puis rempli au poska noir. c'est bien faisable, surtout quand on connait mes talents de dessinateur à la main qui tremble, mais ça m'a pris un bon bout de temps pour seulement ça !
si tu es intéressé j'irai chercher la référence des têtes fraisées que j'ai acheté.
je vais aussi bientôt tenter la gravure chimique à l'acide, je suis assez impatient de voir le résultat !!

Have you applied a coating after "Black Posca-ing" the lettering to protect it - if yes, which one ? (si c'est un produit vendu en France, ce sera  plus facile !).

so i used a Dremel drill with the Flexshaft ("fléxible" en français) and a countersink bit #105 ("fraise #105"), the smallest one, i bought a pack of 3 for less than 10€
and i didn't coat the enclosure, because i don't have sealer yet, and because after rubbing the engraved surface for a few minutes, the black paint stayed in place, so no need for protection here!
but if you're looking for paint and sealer/coating spray-cans you should look there: http://www.banzaimusic.com/Spraypaint-Cans/
much cheaper than at "bricomarché" and such but careful with the shipping costs!

Fine - I hate painting ! All I have tried about stompboxes have inevitably failed, even a simple coating... Thanks for the engraving reamer ref# - I didn't thought about the flex : good idea for a much more easier handling. I think I'll give it a try +++

going through older posts... how does one manages to polish enclosures like that? so smooth and shiny, it looks chromium-plated!!

Lots of work. I use an orbital sander in a vise and run from 400 to 800 to 1200 grit until the box is smooth then use two grades of polishing wheels...(then sometimes I run it thru photoshop )

by the way, your job with the blisterlily is truely amazing! is the enclosure etched after sanded and polished?

Holy Crap that Blisterlily looks nice
