No coincidence that the largest size they make is "DD." The blokes at Hammond are hilarious.

Did anyone read the comments on the light up switch on radio shack's site? Something amusing about it...

The fact that Radio Shack customers can't figure out how to hook up a switch?  They sound like a bunch of @#$%ing guitarists.

Actually, that switch is strange. It has 2 tangs for your power, and the thin wires and box is what actually converts 110VAC to the smaller voltages for the LED. If you open the box it has a rectifier and such that you can modify to run off of smaller voltages. That's what all the comments are about. So, basically this runs, in my case, before the transformers, like you would hook up a neon indicator.

Here's a crappix of the project I installed it in:

Darron's done it again!!

I really like the tattoo artwork theme you've been evolving.  Very distinctive and very cool.

Can I ask a vulgar question?  Do you pay someone for the designs, or is it a favour?  It looks like they must take quite some time.

Top work.

ta (:

it's not a vulgar question...

well, i've had a few people do designs for me so far which i have been selling.

a local guy did a design for me as a favour. i helped him with one of his pedal projects and also sent another pedal his way.

one of the "tattoo" designs was actually by a tattoo artist who plays guitar. i sent some decent cash her way and am still yet to send her some pedals of her actual artwork (not a part of the deal, but it's only fair!) her designs took about 6 months each though... well worth it (:

this recent one i outright paid a graphic designer. i think the whole thing from first contact to final draft took about 6 days!! crazy... bit of hunting to find the guy with the style which i was after...

like most people here, i really want to push my pedals as far as i can... i'm just lacking the skills in the graphics area. i did everything else on that pedal though. pcb etching, layout, powder coating (new for me) engraving etc.

my idol for years has been the standard set by moollon (well, for presentation anyway) http://www.moollon.com

Yeah, moollon designs are really great, I always loved those.
Your latest looks incredible, Darron, I concur with markeebee about it being very distinctive from your part, it has your seal.
Maybe one day we could trade a box, I'd love to have one of yours.

i'd be honoured! it means a lot coming from you Slade.

you're designs are on par with your workmanship - outstanding. if you're ever interested i'd be keen to work with you engraving one of my style enclosures just for kicks. next time you need to build something custom keep me in mind...

I'm with you on this one. I feel that graphics is my weakest area when it comes to builds. I know there are graphics programs out there (gimp, inkscape, etc.) however, I just cannot find the time to sit down and dig into the learning aspect. Between full-time AND part-time jobs, family, household duties, and life outside of pedal building I just cannot find the time. Often, I find myself at the point of figuring out graphics for a design and just settling on a text layout just to get the pedal finished so I can play it!  8)

well... i'm actually quite good with the software. i'm just not creative with drawing and design etc. balance and layout is okay. i used to like making website's too and can do scripting and backends, but just can't make them very appealing. i love how things come together in the pedal world digitally to a physical construction. the schematic to pcb layout, to real copper, and the enclosure matching up.... mmmm

let's face it... who hasn't bought a pedal for it's porn factor? it's just something that we want to own and look at sometimes. not that i'm saying that is the most important thing. not at all....

When it comes to pedals, the "estetics" of it are only a minor detail to me. Playability and good sound are most important  ;D

Of course, I do like my enclosures to look nice and neat however, I really do not care if they have been laser-etched by a hindu priest on top of mount kilimanjaro  ::) As long as it is neat, clean, and labeled so I know what is what.... Its good for me  ;D

This is incredible!  This is exactly what I was researching.  I am lost on the logic part. I would simply buy a commercial product like the octa switch but I want to be able to control several custom amp functions and I want to be able to swap some fx order so I need a combination of things. I only need a few presets.  I was thinking 5-7 loops and 4-6 presets. Have you posted a schematic?

Colonel Angus

There's lots of looper designs and kits out there.
http://www.mammothelectronics.com/
I'm lost at what you mean by 'preset', most of the designs here are pretty analog. I guess you could add some presets by putting marks indicating how far to turn the knob.

Pettol

Just wanted to share my latest etch:

It's etched (p-n-p + NaOH), etched areas painted black and then I sprayed the whole thing with transparent red. I'm quite happy with the result. Candy apple-ish.

BTW - it's an overdrive.

Colonel Angus

That's sexy, love the red! Those knobs are sick, where did you source them from?
