Tube Driver, sounds great when a clean boost + overdrive are placed before, a little sterile when standalone. Tube is a Sylvania 6189WA NOS 1966.

Clipper Ship version 2.0:




MP38A (hfe 61, L ~ 60) and some of Smallbear's colorful "Generic" Ge diodes with Fv around .27V.

I'll be posting a new demo tomorrow -- this is a huge improvement over the first version. The distortion is better, the whole circuit has a loooooot less noise, and the tone control is less extreme.

Incidentally, during the testing process, I discovered something really weird: Q1 in this circuit can be NPN OR PNP. It works identically with either. How can this be?

Thanks, Mike. I don't suppose the fuzz parts arrived today? I'd be surprised if they made it in one day, but stranger things have happened. I'm really anxious to hear how the perc works out.

Nope, not yet. It may be a day or two before I have a chance to sit down and finish it. We're doing frantic house cleaning getting ready for holiday company

Jon, whether on purpose or by accident, the low angle side lighting in the first photo and shadow thrown by the components really seems to bring your painting to life, sorta lends it an ominous air. Got to say like Mike, that's my favorite so far, nicely done!

Ross Compressor. For the offboard wiring I mounted the parts on the outside of the enclosure first, then measured the wires trying to get it nice and neat. It was the first time I enjoyed offboard wiring.
