I added the octave switch, variable input caps as well as a variable tone knob.

It's a mini Lovetone Doppleganger, with lots of wiring. Before anyone asks, the PCBs aren't made by me and sadly aren't available. Very cool project though, a bit of a squeeze!

I don't know how wise the offboard wiring is, given all the time Alan put into making the pots and switches board mounted. I couldn't resist going for the look though
