Very cool I like the latest batchs. I aspire to them all.
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

Smoke me a Kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

I put one of those in my experiment guitar when I first started tinkering with electrons. I never could use it as good as you though.

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms.

I just finished this one. :icon_lol: It's my very first OD, and I love it. Thanks to DeadAstronaut and Duck_Arse and everyone that helped me refine it and finally get it together. All of my parts are from Tayda Electronics as well.

The powder coat was a scratch job, but it fit the application. Feedback is certainly accepted. Thanks for looking.

Paint looks good - classy job inside and out.  One comment/question on the LED - did you insert it into the bezel from outside the box? I use the same bezels, use the plastic spacer that comes with it and insert the LED from inside the box. The LED fits in snugly and is below the outside rim of the bezel therefore protected from misplaced stomps. I'd hate to hear of a snapped off LED mid song!

dough1203

Yes :icon_redface: that's exactly what I have done. Lol. It's my first try. Thanks for correcting me on that. I always wondered why my LED looked different than some others that I had seen. Oh well. Better luck next time. Thanks for the support though.

I've had a "Murder One" board sitting around for a couple of years and finally got some time between honey-do projects to build it. I housed it in a wooden cigar box and used my Weller butane soldering iron with a plastic/foam cutting tip to burn the labeling into the wood.

The on/off switch is part of the volume pot. I didn't add an LED or lamp to indicate on/off because I wanted to keep it simple and uncluttered. The tube glows enough to show that it's on.

This is a very small tube amp, but I didn't try to get it as small as possible. I kinda' like plugging into something that's not going to easily be pulled off onto the floor.  I've also got room to add an effect or two.  It sounds good, but needs some tweaking. I'll post some build info over on the M1 thread soon.

Ohm's Law - much like Coles Law, but with less cabbage...

Jdansti

Thanks guys.

I got the box at an antique shop for $7. My wife drags me to I often accompany my wife to antique shops and I'm always on the lookout for something music related. I recently found a working Morley optical volume pedal for $30. :)

^ that "vibra phase" looks like a million bucks. on ebay, at least.

I'm going to start the bidding at half a million. ;)
Mockingbird wish me luck.

Man, you must be too proud, and I'm sure the wife loves having it displayed in the living room, right?

Jdansti

I am pleased with how it turned out, and this is one of the more palatable builds for my wife, but I'm not sure if the living room display idea is going to fly. ;)

I don't usually post build reports at places other than at Madbean. I don't know why, but I haven't in a long while. I was chatting with another builder a while back via email, and they told me I'm an idiot for that, and I should be posting elsewhere.

So here it is, the Companion Fuzz. You can get the project at http://www.jmkpcbs.com if you haven't seen it thus far. It isn't a terribly difficult project, but it does feature the most 'mojo' style parts I could come up with. All Axial Film caps (except the one axial electrolytic) and I also use Modern 1/2 watt Carbon Comps as well. So it's noisy, yes, but if you listen to it, the noise really, really doesn't matter.

So, for about $10 in parts from Mouser, I have built my super mojo fuzz. It ROCKS. This one is in a PPP Blue Hammertone. Love it. Also, I used their service for getting printing right on the box, which is handy. The graphic is a Companion from a video game my brother loves. Look it up, cause I don't know more than that really. But, the pedal freaking rocks! I love the slightly glitchy fuzz I get from it. It's this weird sort of long sustained sound, that sort of crinkles out if you let it fade out. It's not smooth like a FF or TB2 type at all. Plus, it looks pretty rad with the mojorific parts in there. They add to the sound for sure.

Of note, I added a LPB in there. I found that at full volume, there's an almost imperceptible drop in volume. I could live with it really, but it doesn't leave me for much in dynamic range, especially because the fuzz control is 'almost' useless as well. I designed and had a made a small LPB board that just sits in there under the board and uses a trimpot to allow a little bit more range. Now, I get full volume at about 11 o'clock on the dial. It's alright, but I won't use it as a boost persay, it's just raising the output of the pedal a bit.

Here's some lovely pictures.

And the Guts.

Here's the Video.

Hope you've enjoyed!
