Haveyouseenhim - nice build. How did you make the oppening for the tube?

I drilled two large holes with a stepper bit, used a dremel cutting wheel to connect the holes, and a little bit of filing to perfect the shape.

That does look seriously cool.  Great job with the drilling and filing of the hole as well as the etching of the box.

Mike that tread etch looks awesome too. How long do you guys etch and or how strong of acid are  you using ?

Thanks. I used vinyl decal cut to look like diamond plate. It took about 45 minutes to etch for me because I was using radioshack ferric chloride.

I don't know if I'm ready for a tube amp yet. I think I'm going to try the T-driver V3 before I get around to building an amp.

Did you buy a board from them?  Looks like they have pictures of fabbed boards, but no way to buy.  Those look like cool projects too.  Then again I have enough projects to build.  We should start a thread for "piles of unpopulated PCB's"

I etched my own. Ares gave me permission to etch up a handfull and sell them here.   I have to dig up the for sale thread.

Another new build that actually works. An ROG Omega...sounds awesome through my VOX Pathfinder amp.

Had a lot of problems with this finish, but it will look OK 5 feet away on a pedal board.

Here's a build of Jon Patton's Bear Hug Comp. I'm still experimenting with powder coating over an etch. I wasn't sure if the powder coat would adhere well over the light coat of paint I used to darken the etch, but so far, so good. I dried the paint with a heat gun and then let it sit for 24 hours before powder coating. This particular powder was so translucent, I don't even think I would have needed to paint the etch. That would have been a more subtle look. But I like this way, too!
